Shubhman Gill: Far too much style and very less substance

Subhman Gill seems to be mighty talented but right now he seems to be more interested in his social mdeia game than the game out on the field and his test returns have been extremely sub par, how long will this continue?

BCCI has corrupted him trying to make him next big Brand.  Might blow back spectacularly & destroy a serious talent.

Gill is suitable for ODIs. He can bide his time and build an innings. In T20s he has been poor.  7, 5, 46, 7 ,11, 126*, 3, 7, 6 . Even in the IPL he struggled on certain grounds. He is not a fully evolved T20 batsman.

IPL performances, Sara Tendulkar, trying to be the Next Kohli and Pandya when it comes to brand endorsements... he has lost all his focus on International cricket.

 

Here I was thinking we've found a replacement for Kohli but the guy cant make more than 50 runs in the Whole format tour of WI.. what a joke

He's in all format purgatory. Struggling to adjust. I would keep him away from t20s for a bit. Maybe pick him only after RSA tour.

Drop him, but formulate a plan to help him overcome his weaknesses. Player development is important, but it doesn't seem like our board is too interested in it.

why would they be? their sole priority and interests are IPL Tv viewership revenue and make as much money as possible. International level player development gaya tel lene

3, 7, 6.     This is not an emergency helpline number.  These are Gill's score in this t20 series against a team which did not qualify for 2022 T20 WC.

Has glaring weakness against outswing. Seems distracted with the name and fame at early age. I just hope he doesn't go the Prithvi Shaw way. Let's hope not. 

 

Doesn't have the T20 game, for tests his technique is weak. Must surely be dropped.

Media said he was dumped by Sara Ali Khan...  Hasn't recovered since then I think

If he's still a bit raw and has kinks in technique then surely "coach" Dravid and his flunkies should be doing some actual coaching?

 

Literally get paid for doing F all.

Not totally his fault. It's the selector's obsession with creating multi-format players with the kind of schedule these guys have. He had a great IPL but these slow Windies' tracks are probably not for guys who rely on timing as much. Need more intent and bottom-hand power to force the issue.

This is true,you will more see the pattern

All format Players will have an average career trajectory in future

Being an all format player is very hard.He needs to find a style which will work for him in all formats.

 

As a young player he needs to evolve as bowlers start targetting his weaknesses.This happens with most young players.

 

Find it funny people are blaming BCCI or his  social media .
