Gambhir takes a dig at Kohli. Justified?

I agree with GG. It was refreshing  to see Samson focused on playing his natural game for the team without worrying about personal milestones.

In the game against WI, many former players would have expected themselves to play for their milestone and strike being given to them so they can reach their milestone.

He has said that for a long time, so its definitely not only targeted at Kohli. However, its incredibly petty to use these moments to air personal agendas

Why is he grumpy immediately after a WC win? Some personality disorder surely.

How is this a dig at Kolhi or any1 else in specific.

This is the only thing he is been consistent about and have been saying this since his own playing days when kolhi was not even there. May be playing U-19.

There is another thread about Gavaskar and milestones.

The answer is same to all, Cricket and LOI was an offshoot of Test cricket where wins were v.few  and draws were the most likely out come and highly celebrated one.

And because winning and scoring or taking wkts in winning cause was not a parameter, individual achievements became the best things a team can have.

Wi got a head start in Winning and understood what winning means , so they created a winning team , good set of 5/6 batters and good set of 4-5 bowlers.

Then Aus understood it and build teams on same logic rather than having 1-2 good cricketers. There was pod cast where david loyd talks about it how Aus players would come to county cricket and found it hard to digest that personal milestones were bigger than playing for team.

Since 90s why is that only Ganguly (As captain) and now to some extent GG/dravid (as coaches) were able to assemble 5 good batters and 4/5 good bowlers.

The reason is same they understood what team means and what is about paying for team and winning the games.

Actually the team was crafted for this summit,Kudos to the engine room who knew right after wc24 and started preparing for this WC by going with no anchoring tactic but maintaining the tempo to bat out opposition and sink them under its pressure,it was a wholesome approach

Yes more or less you will get surfaces like this world over ,but there will be pitches like Carribian where we will have to respect the conditions where guys like Tilak,Sanju will come handy

Marauder Abhishek is the enforcer uptop, don't disturb him, like Gilly don't you dare to teach him bat like certain people

Offcourse, statpadding is a sin at most of the times,it disturbs your concentration a lot

Agree with message from GG.

Maybe could have been more cheerful given we have just won but i think ptovided this mentality we will win more trophies.

The real question is how ruthless is GG. Surya is clearly a net drag on this team with the bat. Buy his captaincy has been decent. Does this mentality extend to team selection?

If GG actually meant what he said, he never would have brought Gill back, at the expense of Sanju. Heck he preferred 135 SR Gill over 165 SR Jaiswal.

We got lucky thanks to Ojha and RP.

probably perpetually pissed off nobody talks about his 97 in the 2011 world cup final !

i doubt these players really need it drummed into them having batted under the worlds best coaches in the IPL but yeh he's right

that said gun player dube coming in down the order will never win player of the tournament so volume of runs does count at least externally there's no escaping that

The biggest praise for Gg is that post retirement he has put himself out there.

Got elected to parliament with more than 50% (with the grace of Modiji). Was a popular Mp from what i can tell.

Coached teams to ipl glory with Kkr. Coached India to 2 ICC trophies.

I am sure he had enough money to retire and become a commentator. A soft job.

What exactly has Msd or even Sachin done? Will Msd still be whistle Podu again in his 40s?

As mentioned before test cricket has not worked out. Needs to be replaced. But my hats off to him for his service to the nation.
