What is the point of this thread?

You want Dhoni the player to comeback in T20’s. Whom can he replace?

If your criticism is of Kohli the captain-sure fair enough but should we go back to Dadu?

Its a circle jerk, If Dadu has to comeback as a captain, he deserves a slot as a player and for that there are no slots.

So that’s that

No one wants Dhoni to come back in T20s. But we do compare players, captains cross era, don't we? We compared Ganguly with Dhoni, Sachin with KOhli etc. all the time. This thread is a testimony that we have gone from a superb LOI skipper and settled for mediocrity.

That was a better Australian team with Steve Smith, Shane Watson etc. and we whitewashed them in their den in 2016.

Having  lost the 1st T20 , can King Kohli lead us to win the remaining 2 matches and the series? Or it will be another overseas loss under his captaincy?

Smith and Warner only played the first game after that they were on the tour to New Zealand.

Dhoni lost T20 series in Eng and SA without winning a game but Kohli won the T20 series in both the places, has had a run of being undefeated in 9 T20 series. What exactly does this prove?

I have allways maintained, Captain is key to win loss. The idea that a team is as good as players is only valid if there is serious overall gap between the quality of players between two teams. Say the era of great Windies or Great Aussies.

Dhoni is a legend captain i limited overs. Lets not judge him based on his current batting prowess

India lost because Australia played 13 players with Krunal and Khaleel both playing crucial roles. Both wont play on Friday night.

I am very confident of that.

I follow BBL and the spinners do very well, so I am surprised that Chalal was not picked ahead of Krunal. Yadav for Khaleel is a no brainer.

Unlike Test matches where batsmen go in a shell and weather off storm or milk slow/part time bowlers, A captains abilty to pack a team and effectively use Slow bowlers and part time  are key to success in limited overs cricket.

but we did not win those games because of bowling but because of batting.

but we did not win last because of captaincy. we scored big in first two games and then chased 200 in the third game.  you scored 180 plus in Aus and most times, you will win because of big grounds.  Even yesterday.  Aus scored 158, India 168 and still lost.  We lost due to DLS more than anything.

Does that matter. If a pitch is prepared for 200, then its prepared for 200. It does not means we scored big or they scored big and we won with bat or ball. Its captain who ensures that on a given day with given set of team and players on a given pitch, how he goes about the game. Rest is all there just for stats. And that the reason I do not rely on statsguru.

Every summer I see this. When our cricket pitch becomes minefield, either us or opponent struggle to reach 125-150 on pitch. And same set of players score 200-270 against same opposition

Fair critisim but there were two passengers in this team. Moreover the team played close but your point is valid too.
