Four seamers and getting thrashed has no correlation.  These are two different events.  We did no get thrashed because we played 4 seamers.  It could have happened even with three seamers as one batsman David Warner had a dream day.  Check what other 9 Aussie batsmen did in that innings.  It was like MCG 2003-04 where Sehwag blasted Aussies all around scoring 195 out of 350 odd we scored.  We played other three tests with three seamers and result was same on that tour. we recently played 4 seamers at Wanderers and we wot that game.   This Aussie team has no Warner.  Neither a spinner could have made any difference in that 2012 Perth game.

You misunderstood,I am not saying going in with 4 seamers is a wrong strategy.With discussion of 4 seamers at Perth happening,just got reminded of this hammering last time @Perth

Vinay Kumar bowling at Perth was one of the most humiliating moments. Probably worse than the days when we had Gavaskar opening the bowling to take shine off the new ball so that spinners can start operating. Obviously those days it was justified as we had no fast bowling stock but watching Kumar bowl was definitely a humiliating moment and that too in Perth.

This is not so much about who/what the Aussies have only, its also about who/what WE have and the risks associated with it. 

A spinner can bowl way more overs than a pacer, that is indisputable. So the issue becomes of one or two batsmen getting stuck-in and batting us into the ground - becomes harder to sustain pressure with fast bowlers only, if they are not making a breakthrough, because tired fast bowlers after 60 overs or so = leaking runs a-plenty. 

I do not have the confidence in our quartet enough to say more than 2 pacers will be steady-eddys or deadly. Umesh is a no-go because he alone can lose the plot bad-enough to be a disaster. Question is, do we trust Vehari to bowl tidy overs with the pressure on or not.

I don't.  That's why I'd either have Jadeja ahead of Bhuvi, or better still both ahead of Vihari.
