Pant doesn't  inspire  confidence, his risky play means we can't depend  on him like we did with peak Dhoni.i think they should  try Kishan after the WC.

Misleading thread title. Dhoni seemed to be resting yesterday too, during his explosive 26 from 42.

Clever decision. Few failures and Dhoni suddenly realised he was getting exposed badly. 

 

Whatever happened to the plans of ‘Dhoni needs as much as match practice as he can get before the WC’, a logic that the TM and selectors had given as justification for bringing him back for T20s.

That's because Pant was inducted in the team very late. He isnt allowed much international exposure. Pant has shown in tests that he can build an innings too. Dhoni is by far the most selfish and shameless Indian great to not to retire on time.

Pant is a lot like Sehwag in his apparoach so attacking fields help him build an innings in Tests where a good shot will always fetch you a boundary, not necessary it will work in ODIs lower down the order with a field spread out to build an innings you need to do it with singles
