Vickydev Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 I think he is majorly insecure about his place in the side once again now that Pant has got back the gloves and as a result is so tentative, that it looks like he is trying ever so hard to play safe and not throw it away. Its unfortunate that he had to warm the bench for best part of 3 months and now maybe form is just not there to back him up. He is a special player..him alongside Kishan could be the opening partnership we've been looking for in this format GoldenSun, Cricspin and SRT100 2 1
GautiMaan Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 He seems tentative and keeps getting out to swing bowlers, also with Rohit coming in at any time his place is not secure, however TM must look into the possibility of slotting him in the middle order as they did in ODI's. He can anchor better than Iyer and finish as well as SKY. Rohit Kishan Kohli Pant Rahul Hardik Jadeja Shardul Sundar Bumrah Nattu BacktoCricaddict 1
Popular Post express bowling Posted March 15, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2021 Rahul seems to be under pressure more often than not. Even when he is doing well, he looks very grim and brooding. Sometimes looks can be we deceptive but probably not the case with Rahul. He needs to unclutter his mind and think positively. velu, vijaydude, Lone Wolf and 8 others 1 1 9

raki05 Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 I think insecure execuse would not work now.. As he adapted the same approach in ipl where he is captain of the team. Many time he started rapidly but then played slow once settled in which causes his team exit from KO. When he first started in t20 he was out and out dasher even during ipl he make his mark on back of fastest half century. But somehow as soon as he became captain he went in to cell. He should play aggressively like he used to do in past or else he wont be able to survive especially when pant is full time keeping and Kishan is also there as an backup. express bowling, Suhaan and Banton 3
afan Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 KL has earned his stripes and he hasnt crossed 30 yet. How old is SKY btw? I think he is getting a lot of advices, and somebody is playing with his head..Maybe some GF, or a nosy coach or a well meaning uncle He just needs to shut them off, and get on with his game Dravid and Kumble must step in here... Just like Pant, KL needs his position to be guaranteed and be given the license to not put a price on his wicket and go for the runs. In full flight, he is a game changer. At their peak I would rather KL ahead of Iyer in the current T20. express bowling, Cricspin, Ankit_sharma03 and 1 other 4
Sooda Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 The last time he batted before this T20I series was in Dec in Australia. T20Is really arent the best format to get back into some kind of batting touch, especially on a "two paced" pitch. Management should assure him his place is not under threat; he is too good a bat in this format. SRT100, Ankit_sharma03 and AmazeBallz 1 1 1
Bigg Brother Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) What a treat to eyes he was back in 2016-18 when he nearly chased down 246 against WI (If not for Thala) and that knock against England in t20. Edited March 15, 2021 by Bigg Brother

zen Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 KL has not played competitive cricket since Aus tour so may need a few games to get going ... Many of the guys who are doing well played in tests too so are in relatively good rhythm ... T20 does not allow you more time to settle in so may need to hit out at times to sink or swim After every game if stock price of a cricketer changes, there is something wrong with the fans AmazeBallz 1

Rahul averages 41.7 from his 47 matches with a strike rate of 144. If SDP bats in the top order, his avg would be higher too, along with a greater SR ... buddy, classic mistake of comparing #s of players who bat at different positions, playing different roles ... while a Kishan can perform well in top order too, very few can excel in lower middle order with only a few balls to go and with death over specialists bowling, which is why he is preferred there (he can do the rough job).... Also everyone knows SDP is a different batsmen since the last few years, missing a few games when in good form through injury Edited March 15, 2021 by zen

Pollack Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Rahul is fine. Need to stick with him in t20s and and ODIs. If backed properly he is bound to come good eventually. AmazeBallz 1
prudent_kreeda Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) Am not able to understand why there is so much confusion in assessing the ability of players . When KL scores in couple of matches he is demi-God and when fails in 2 matches he is mental midget ! . He has been our top T20 player in different conditions for last 2 years . A mental midget or someone lacking ability cannot reach such level. At least assess him objectively - Does he have all the shots to play aggressively ? Can he play even fastest stuff and get runs , . Can he be big hitter vs spinners Has he shown his ability against Top teams several times Please answer yourself for the above and assess . People will make runs and also fail , Form also will dip at times . If that is not happening why no one is able to score at more than 55 Average in their career. ? If i were Shastri , i would even test him at #4 or #5 in next 3 matches if he cannot be accommodated at the top. You cannot throw out a proven match winner of short format as he has more capability than Iyer. Rohit, Ishan ,Kohli, SKY, KL, Pant , Hardik line up for next 2 matches Edited March 16, 2021 by prudent_kreeda . Cricspin and Ankit_sharma03 1 1

However the intention of showing stats of someone who people consider a high impact player was to show that Rahul strikes at the same rate as Pandya while scoring at much higher average. Yes, thanks to him playing top of the order. Obviously there is **** ton of discussion that can happen based on batting position. Thanks for avoiding the explanation. Saves time for both of us. I did not want to discuss how we can just a move a player from no.6/7 to Top3 and just assume he will keep scoring at even higher rate while improving his average 2X-3X of current average. It is proven that if good batsmen get to play more balls, their avg and SR improves ... you can also pick the bowlers to target unlike in the death overs where you have less options, while also leveraging on field restrictions ...
