Saha likely to be preferred over Pant for the 1st Test vs SA

Reports suggest Saha will be preferred over Pant for the SA series. Hasn't played a Test for 18 months, missed most of the most critical Away tour cycle due to injuries where Pant stepped in and did a great job but now Pant is no longer in good books of the coach and captain. Saha's stats in his last 7 tests before injury  151 runs@21 but that is immaterial as Pant has to be targetted. 

 

If TM has lost confidence in Pant, he should be released from the squad right away to let him focus on the FC season for Delhi. What's the point in him warming the bench in a dressing room where the captain and coach do not want him.

 

I wrote this in an earlier post, Pant should opt out of International cricket for a couple of years, play two full seasons of domestic cricket, if possible 3-4 months of County Cricket as well and comeback when he is 24. The toxic regime of Kohli-Shastri-Dhoni would hopefully have been over by then.

I do like Saha as he is a solid keeper but wouldn't want him to replace Pant unless he is injured. TM is ruining Pant's career. I hope the powers that be leave him alone in the IPL at-least. Let the kid survive and earn a living, what crime has he done?

Even Kohli-Shastri mafia cannot stop Pant from being a IPL superstar which he surely is. Has a much better IPL record than Kohli.. . Kohli was a nobody in IPL when he was 21 (till 2010), wasn't even getting picked for India in Tests and T20s. Pant's plays all formats and his current IPL value at 21 is much bigger than Kohli's at a similar age. Maybe that makes Kohli jealous of Pant

Our batting will become more fragile with Rohit opening and Saha at 6..Jaddu and Ashwin will help, Frankly speaking there is nothing to follow about this series.SA is depleted and the way things are going it is better to give this series a pass.

Captain a nd coach are taking them very lightly. Could end up in a few surprises.  The thrashing in 3rd T20 by a SA B team would have given SA a huge morale booster. Plus most of their Test team have been with the SA A team for over a month in India. Acclimatisation will not be an issue. Plsu in Keshav Maharaj they have a world class spinner who can trouble us on turning surfaces. If only they also had Steven Harmer, could well have been a repeat of the 2016 Eng series in India when Swann and Monty destroyed us.

By the time their reign gets over Pant will be already out of the scene,yes he should brace himself for far more worse and be prepared and make any opportunity count,but its easier said than done

But never ever saw a youngster been treated like this before

In shorter versions..  he needs to change his throw away attitude soon.. else find a replacement.

Yes because t20 wc are won by being conservative. The only time we won was when the likes of yuvraj went berserk. Can you imagine winning against the likes of england with dhoni like approach?
