adi B Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 ICC did everything possible to make sure three lions won this edition ,but its good if they actually own up their mistake and rectify it rather than making a mockery of the game as it did in the finals . Also to add ,umpire dharmsena should have been sacked by now for making that blunder and then later shamelessly admitting it maniac, Laaloo, SK_IH and 3 others 6

zen Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 What a game the final was - a) 50 overs tied, and b) super over tied .... Makes sense to repeat the Super Over till the winner emerges in KO games. In group games, the points can be shared. Under_Score 1
Vk1 Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 (edited) as much as we all love KW and his team, to say that they were robbed is a little too much.. even if we discount those overthrows it would still have been 7 of 2 which you never know the game might have been tied with a Ben Stokes six. People have easily forgotten the kind of luck New Zealand rode through during the world cup.. most of their initial victories came on juicy moist pitches which suit their bowlers.. and to their luck they got the same kind of juicy slow and low pitches even in the semis and finals. their luck started with the Draw itself.. getting to play the weakest of teams in the first week and amassing the points.. rained out game against us giving them points.. unfortunately their luck just ended when it really mattered.. Gollum Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 The only result of importance that day was the Wimbledon final , wish that result is changed. Didn't watch the WC final but NZ were lucky to be there, easily the worst finalist since Pak 92. No way should they have finished in top 5 in group stage, glad the Poms won. TheWall 1

jf1gp_1 Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 People need to grow up. NZ were not robbed a rule was in place which was accepted by every board. No one in their wildest dream would have thought such a silly rule will decide world cup. Now that it has happened all are wiser hence the fix. Cricketics 1

It is not just the rule, it is about umpiring error also which led to match being tied in the first place.Your point about this rule is same as that Farce rule concocted by Richie Benaud and co for 1992 world cup everyone agreed then also. It does not mean that rule was right. Cricketics 1

Sure given the situation one does tend to sympathize with NZ but to say England robbed WC or WC was designed to help eng win is just taking it to far. Who had stopped NZ from hitting more 4s than england in final ? You want to talk unfair look at our ranji point system.

Umpring error in an lbw or caught when not nicked is something any player will live with but it was an error which was completely preventable by any decent umpiring. While I understand your point but to decide world cup on such a farce rule is ridiculous. Like 1992, this world cup is also a farce. Pakistan was never correct winner then nor England is worth winner in 2019. Edited October 15, 2019 by putrevus

Dharmasena had to make a decision himself as to whether the batsman had crossed when the throw was released. That's not something any umpire is going to keep track of so they have to make an educated guess. Couldn't he have taken TV assiantance.
