Gollum Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 (edited) When was the last time this happened? They were scoring 500-600 for fun against NZ, Eng in last 2 seasons. We missed Ishant in 1st test, Ishant and Shami here. What a terrific bowling unit this is. Edited December 26, 2020 by Gollum Adamant, SK_IH, Hell Raiser and 6 others 9

Bowling has been terrific from indian side in last few years, only if we had a decent batting line up to go with it we would have won alot more in SENA. Mosher 1
R!TTER Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 No brownie points to the cap? Didn't see too many dropped catches today either! Having a brilliant slip fielder captaining helps a fair bit. nevada 1

Gollum Posted December 26, 2020 Author Posted December 26, 2020 (edited) Ok just checked on statsguru Before these 2 matches this series, instances when Aussies were ao for <200 in their 1st innings at home: 2018 against us at MCG 151 ao 2016 against RSA Hobart 85 ao 2012 against RSA WACA 163 ao 2011 against NZ Hobart 136 ao 2010 against Eng MCG 98 ao 2010 against Pak SCG 127 ao (that famous Hussey/Akmal one which Pak lost) 1995 against Eng SCG 116 ao 1993 against WI WACA 119 ao (Ambrose 1/7 spell) 1992 against Ind Adelaide 145 ao (surprise, though we lost that match) 1990 against Eng Gabba 152 ao 8 times in 80s when they were ****, 70s, 50s etc a few instances, LINK No team has achieved this back to back wallah feat like us, including Steyn led RSA or GOAT WI Mighty respect to this (depleted) bowling attack, fast bowling fans like @express bowling @Vilander @Rightarmfast @Mosher and others, we are witnessing something never seen before. Who would have thought India would be the side to own Aussie batsmen like this in their backyard. Though along with quicks even Ashwin deserves a lot of credit, for bowling like a true ATG this tour and limiting that beast Smith to just 1 run till now. kubrickian Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 Good strategies as well. Smith, Labuschagne, Paine fell because of some good plans. sorak, nevada and Stan AF 3
Gollum Posted December 26, 2020 Author Posted December 26, 2020 (edited) Loved how Bumrah, Ashwin, Siraj bowled to their plans. Interesting to see Ashwin with 2-7 field and making them play uppishly to FSL, leg slip, square leg, mid-wicket. The way he dismissed Smith/Paine suggests they went as per plan. Now that mode of dismissal may not be as aesthetic as his usual wicket taking deliveries but sure as hell effective (like McGrath, Gillespie in India 2004). Who cares how you get Smith out as long as you get him out cheaply!!!! Amazing display of accuracy and discipline to go at 1.5 rpo for 25 overs with a 2-7 field Edited December 26, 2020 by Gollum Stan AF, express bowling and Mosher 3

Though along with quicks even Ashwin deserves a lot of credit, for bowling like a true ATG this tour and limiting that beast Smith to just 1 run till now. Our pace bowling attack in test matches got completely transformed when Bumrah debuted in test matches in January 2018, 3 years back. He brought that objectivity, focus and intensity to our fast bowling attack. Before that, our pace unit lacked purpose. Bumrah has been a wicket taker, enforcer and economical bowler rolled into one. He has the extra pace, hostility as well as accuracy and objectivity And this coincided with Shami upping his fitness level and Ishant transforming into a fine bowling after working with Gillespie. The Indian pacers use much improved strength and conditioning training techniques these days and this has resulted in our quicks being able to maintain both pace and intensity throughout the day. This did not happen till 2014. This trio of Bumrah, Shami and Ishant 2.0 are as good a fast bowling group as I have ever seen. And they are grossly under-rated just because India does have a great fast bowling tradition. Now we need to develop the next lot of skilful 140 k+ quicks who have wicket taking ability. I will always strongly support and believe in the supreme ability of Indian fast bowlers. We are and will be the absolute best. Tyron Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 Dude Indian fast bowlers of this era is one of the best ever easily. Bumrah Shami Ishant Bhuvi This is an ATg attack. Way better than anything our padosis produced. Padosis played in bowling friendly era when they had Wasim saqlain etc. Our current one is the best ever from Asia. If only our batsmen step up. Hopefully they do. Rightarmfast, Gollum and Vilander 1 2
Vickydev Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 Ashwin the key guy in both of those innings. He has been a revelation so far this tour.
velu Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 I don’t want to see another thread by @Gollum like Aussies restrict India below 50 twice in two consecutive 2nd innings sandeep, express bowling, Mosher and 4 others 7

Bhuvi has done jack in tests since Bumrah debuted 3 years ago. So please don’t put this malnourished trundler in the same category as the other three.

Just injury prone.

Yeah specially first tests against saf, eng and also any of the tets in nz. In indias 90 years test history first time it looks like we are now a better bowling than batting side.. the last time any team scored 500 against india was way back in oval test against England where Pant Rahul nearly chased down the score on the flattest deck in England..
