KL Rahul sprained his left wrist while batting in the nets at the MCG during Team India’s practice session on Saturday. The wicketkeeper-batsman will not be available for the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he will need about three weeks time to recover completely and regain full strength.

He will now return to India and head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further rehabilitation of his injury.

There is something wrong with the fitness regime and/or the load management of players. We have way too many injuries and this has been the case for a while. Somebody needs to take a close look at that. What is the point of a six pack if you’re going to sit like a ragged toy on the shelf. On a lighter note, maybe they need to consume Shastri’s six pack instead. Between the six pack and nap, he doesn’t miss a day of work.

Ok so adjust Mayank in Middle order..

Gill

Rohit

Pujara

Rahane

Mayank/Vihari

Pant

Jaddu

Rohit opening in SENA on top of the fact that he does not have any first class match practice? If Rohit is at all playing he should not be anywhere in top 4. Otherwise it could be as quick as a toilet break. He will go to the ground, relieve himself and come back to home both literally and figuratively.

Rohit opening with Gill is set.  Also I do think Rohit has matured enough that he understands his game better now and has enough mental strength to come on top.

Classic BCCI - Infamous curse of fake injury to accommodate another player, in this case what a sh!t show...KL Rahul being sacrificed for a Test reject.

I have zero hopes from Rohit opening as well.  But I'll be happy If he gives at least 20-30 runs at the top.  The kind of chances this man has got is unmatched.  It'll be incredibly hard on Mayank who out scored him last home season..  I don't wanna see Mayank getting dropped that's why I think give him a shot at no 5.  Rohit is set to open as he is VC as well.  Automatic choice regardless how he goes about in Sydney.
