Washington Sundar is a clutch player.

Both of the inns he played in this game were massive.  The first one was brilliant & the other was Clutch.  The game was heading for a draw & Cummins was breathing fire & that cameo brought us back in it.

Even in T20 when he is bowling dude looks calm & composed.  He is only 21 & his First test & a left hander..  What a playyaa:hatsoff::thrasher:

basically he was given the license to go for it by Rahane as was Gill, Pant and Mayank. Even Rahane's batting showed that he was thinking of a win. How understated is Rahane when he was asked about his melbourne century, he put the focus on team work rather than talk about his own performance. Top class shown by Rahane :nice:

Edit: not taking anything away from Sundar's coolness under pressure. He played two great innings under pressure against a world class bowling lineup in their fortress. Also outbowled his spin bowling counterpart

What's surprised me how selective his shot selection is. Its not easy to score runs on a 5th day Gabba wicket against that Aussie attack. But Pant and Sundar managed 5 RPO in last 10+ overs. Great stuff. Think he needs to be a regular in ODIs/T20s for sure.

Exactly..  The pull & hook shots are quality.  Will need to work on square cuts though..  But he is young.  We need to invest in him.  He can be a better version of Jaddu in future.   Just 21 right now.

Imagine he played under Kohli for 3 seasons at RCB and Kohli had no idea about his batting prowess!

Took a Rahane to pick him as a Test allrounder. And how wonderfully he has responded to the opportunity and the challenge. Should be seen as a proper middle order batsman now.

Kohli already dropped him once even though he was not out in 80s previously.

To be fair even TN hasnt been playing him in Ranji so you cant blame Virat. Also Washington just got lucky to find a place in playing XI and boy has he made the most of it.

Nope, he has played for TN when available. Injuries and national team commitments have meant lesser no. of FC matches
