There was this crack on the pitch around the short- of-length spot from where the ball would just take off. Cummins has the skill to make the ball rear up from there and make it follow you. In case I took my hand up to defend it, there was a risk that I would glove the ball. Considering the match situation and how we couldn’t afford to lose wickets, I decided to let the ball hit my body,” he says. Lone Wolf
I think someone had explained his technique that he doesn't gets in line with ball with his technique.. That's why he gets struck many times. But this thing works for him somehow. Link to comment
zen
Let's not forget that the great man played 200+ balls and Aus could only make a few go past him despite using "mini-Bodyline" tactics for him at times Edited January 21, 2021 by zen Cricketics 1 Link to comment
PunterLog
Makes sense now! I was shocked to see the way he was playing bouncers and truly felt that he's lost his reflexes and is risking himself. So, he could have defended it but felt that he might nick it due to uncertain bounce. Man's made of steel. nevada, sandeep, kirkutfan and 1 other 4 Link to comment

rtmohanlal
Though still far off adequate overall, Pujara played his part to perfection in this series........ Link to comment
nevada
I never felt teary eyed when watching any sporting action EVER except when Pujara was getting hit left and right that day. I have heard about WI pacers unleashing missiles at our batsmen in '75 forcing Bishan Bedi to just declare the innings and concede defeat but Pujara didn't concede an inch, let alone concede the match. The Aussies did their homework on him and cut off his run supply, bombarded him non stop with bodyline but failed to shake him. zen 1 Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
What commitment for the team's cause. One of the grittiest knocks in Test history I wonder if Kohli, when he returns as captain vs captain, will ask ChePu to score faster else risk losing his test spot. Link to comment
afan
We all think that he needs to add the Hook/Pull shot to his game, else there is a risk of serious injury. For those who has experienced what it feels like when the ball hurtles towards you at 140 plus knows how scary it is to cope the body blows. Massive respect to this man, Chepu and Gill laid the foundations to this famous victory, no doubt about it He took the sting out, so that the others can go for the runs. Link to comment
