Lone Wolf Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 There is big big difference in the way Gill & Kohli bat.. I don't think there is much similarity. Heck even Kohli & Rahane look more similar than this.
Serpico Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 I think Gill's extra height is making his shots look even better. His pull shots look so effortless and casual WC2011INDIA 1
Majestic Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 The similarity between Gill and Kohli is their work ethics, determination and hard work towards the game. Both are textbooks though, however, Gill is clearly far more elegant and aesthetically pleasing to eyes batsman. I find Kohli's batting pretty mechanical. express bowling and nevada 2
TNAmarkFromIndia Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 They are nothing alike. Kohli never seemed like an "elegant" player to me. Kinda reminds me of Ponting the same way in that even though he wasn't the most elegant player of his time, he found a way to play to his strengths and score a lot of runs. I think at one point he was averaging 58 in Tests.
mancalledsting Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Gill is elegant and hence he’s often compared to VVS.
rkt.india Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Kohli is a front foot player, Gill is a backfoot player. nevada, cowboysfan, RAZPOR and 1 other 4
Sandeep99 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 No similarities at all. Gill much classier than lol raki05 and nevada 1 1
vvvslaxman Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 I love watching Kohli bat. He is no less classier. His wristy shots through off side is awfully similar to Kohli. They are more or less similar. Both have some unique shots. Kohli: Uncorking wrists and whipping the ball over mid wicket or sometimes even long on Gill: Semi backfoot cover drive. When it comes to play through the off side of the backfoot Gill > Kohli. Kohli is predominantly a frontfoot player. His first instinct is to come forward. But if the bowler tends to bowl short of a length his response won't be to go on the backfoot. He will stay a couple of feet outside the crease. When it comes to on side Kohli is one of the best we have ever seen. I still remember how he massacred Malinga by walking right across the stumps and maneuvering the field. Not that he is bad through off side. Cover drives are breathtaking. It will be fantastic to watch them together. kirkutfan and raki05 2
dilliboy Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Kohli +Tendulkar + Ponting with a dose of Lara = Gill Am i doing this right? nevada, vijaydude, New guy and 1 other 4

Stan AF Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Insulting to gill. Kohli has no backfoot game.

I am sure that you are talking about his batting in ODIs which for a large part is quite mechanical coz he accelerates only at the last and plays run a ball for the rest of the innings. But in tests he is the amongst the most entertaining batsman. In t20is its two way, if he is not in form he looks awful but if he is in touch then we get gems like ind vs aus 2016 t20 wc, ind vs pak t20wc and ind vs wi last year.
