If the Pink Ball Test has to survive then it needs flatter pitches

First goal should be to create sporting pitches where batsmen, quicks and spinners can all play a role ... the type of ball (pink/red) and other conditions (dew, overhead, etc.) should be factored in later and playing 11 picked accordingly

The issue with rank turners is that pitches are prepared by leaving them unprepared

How about no pinky at all? Just stick to class red ball.

Wouldn't see such low scores in red ball.

Unless you are Pakistan in Australia who let Warner score a triple century somehow.

As i said these gimmicks wont help, ask everyone they ll tell u stories about India-Aus series 2020-21 and 2000 series but not much to tell in any recent pink ball games .

Sports is all about competition , the idea shud be help teams build better rather all these gimmicks. Cricket is declining coz of lack of quality teams not becoz of anything. A good contest is still enough to hook ppl.

I like the idea of Pink ball test .It is still in experimental stage. They need to be staged where they only count for that series but not towards any  test championship points. If WTC points were not on offer for this match then India could have played this match much more freely.

excellent point.make  pink ball tests independent of WTC and we are going to see better contests and better pitches.

Thanks @express bowling bhai. I didn’t see the thread and posted a question in match thread. That pink ball had beautiful seam and kept its shape(specially seam and colour). Batsmen looked hurried and it was so bad that they seem to play like amateur. Most of them weren’t even seeing where ball was and played blind( head position) and looked like fishing even when they were defending.

IMO, Ball and Not pich which was doing way too much For Bats.

I get the appeal of D/N tests. Getting around the pink ball is tough because white ball is useless for test cricket, red ball has visibility issues. They might have to come up with something better. I am pretty sure the color itself was well researched before they came up with it.

Sporting pitches aren't possible in india

Prepare fair pitches. If the pink ball does tricks, so be it. But preparing a minefield where the surface doesn't remain intact even for a couple of sessions is a disgrace.

Credit to Root for not going ballistic against such blatant doctoring.

Until the fine tuning is complete, Pink ball test should be like an exhibition game having no bearing on series result. It shouldn't even be counted as an official test. Why should batsmen unfairly have their averages dented by a freak ball?

I feel pitches of 2010 two match series against Australia in India in Mohali and Bangalore were very sporting. Great batting tracks with something for pacers in the beginning which deteriorated to be very helpful for both spin and pace by the end. Produced 2 great matches as well.

wonder why the batsman on both sides didn't make adjustments for the skidding ball. We have seen teams treating Rashid Khan as an offspinner.. why not change the strategies?
