Ashwin calls it out too - ODI rules are killing spin bowling

Been pointing this out for 6 years now - when you force only 4 outfielders in middle 30 overs of ODI, its like the villain in bad action movie injuring the 'hero' in secret before a one-on-one 'fight' in public.

Watch from 17 minutes on - he spells it out clearly.

This rule was introduced after 2011 world cup, and its a dumb rule.  It will go eventually, because if it doesn't ODI cricket will continue to become one long T20 which is boring.  But question is how long it takes.

your Chahal will still be ineffective irrespective of the fielding rules n two balls :giggle:

Piyush Chawala was as ineffective like that. Dhoni still took him To w cup and he has a w cup winner medal to show. In 2041 when Indi celebrates 30 yeare since its last w cup win he will be there smiling and waving at cameras while Rohit Sharma will sit on his sofa and watch

Asian teams are so dumb, they voluntarily agreed on the two balls in Odis, they should have realized they are significantly making their teams weaker by minimizing their spinners.

It was the time BCCI was weakest. Cant say much about the other asian sides.

This is not true - that rule change happened when Srini Mama was still ruling it - Lodha chaos happened after the rule change IIRC.

Oh May be it was the formation of big 3 that caused Srini to accept it. Oct 2011 was when it was introduced. Both reverse swing and spin is gone in ODIs. May be then only England can finally win something with them out.

Not sure if Srini Mama decides on cricketing matters.. Most probably it would be Dhoni (captain)  who backed the move

They have done the same with Hockey.

negate the strengths of Asian teams. We haven’t won a hockey Olympics medal for god knows how many years, and our spinners have become ineffective in ODI matches and our pacers are unable to utilise reverse swing. Since this rule change, England has benefited the most playing on patta English tiny grounds. Absolute c**nts.
