Panda was always a soft c*** much like Kohli, Thakur is kinda like Pujara/Ashwin mold with much better grit.

He is definitely ahead of Pandya in the bowling and now it seems Batting is comparable. 

 

Plus he keeps producing performances at important moments.

batting is better than pandu in tests. if one excludes thakur's debut test where he was injured and played a non-existent role, in the next 3 tests he has 3 50s

Win or lose, the man has reached epic boss levels.  When I talk to my grandchildren about cricket, he will be a main character - along with VVSL, Pant, Jadeja and Washington Sundar.  My favorite clutch performers.

It just puts into consideration that talent is not everything. You need to be up there mentally as a player to succeed.

 

Skills are more or less same at the highest level. The mindset plays a major part. Players like Shardul Thakur and Shreyas Iyer have the mindset to succeed in international arena while I am not sure if the same can be said about guys, like say, Sanju Samson.

With Sundar and Thakur contributing with bat in clutch matches , these are good signs for Team India which badly needed proper all rounders in test format.

 

But we all know what has happened to Sundar. Likewise we may even see Thakur being sacked after such impressive performances.

 

Kohli will be back to picking other bits and pieces test all rounder than pick Sundar and Thakur.

Watched highlights of both his innings, very beautiful timing and pickup of the shots. 

 

Also took two wickets including that of joe root, looking at scorecard. 

 

He is almost 30 years old and playing just 4th test match, why did he not play earlier?

He was picked in 2018 but got injured in the match. Also Pandya was ahead for a while

He was mostly a T20 guy. His selection was a forced one. Nobody expected him to do anything remotely what he did. He surprised us at the Gabba.  India accidentally found a test player.
