“It’s clear, he (Hardik Pandya) can’t bowl. He will purely play as a batsman in the World Cup. By the later stages of the World Cup he may recover & can bowl but for now it won’t be possible. We feel sorry for Axar Patel but for the sake of team balance he had to make way for Shardul”,confirmed one of the top BCCI official.

In nearly 12 months since his come back in Australia, they could not get him fit to bowl in the WC. Carried him with the squad everywhere. Not sure exactly what kind of rehab/ strengthening he did.

 

With his persistent poor batting form, if he doesn't perform in first two matches, his tournament will be done.

All we needed was just one of the top5 batters who can bowl a few decent overs like Kane, Root, Maxwell, Markram etc and we would have dumped this wannabe Carribean back into the domestics.

Half of the matches, Pandya's batting won't be required because he will bat at 5-6 and face 15 balls. We are better playing Ishan Kishan at that spot. Gives a left hander too.

 

Heck, can even open with Kishan and let KL bat at 5.

Super useless pandya and super overhyped. I am surprise if Kohli will get same treatement like this guy, sit out as per his whim and wishes and as soon as come back directly get in to the playing xi.

Not good enough to play as a batsman alone based on form.  KL Rahul should do the job Pandya is entrusted to do with the bat.
