Dhoni was India's greatest ODI cricketer, if u add his keeping, batting, finishing %, captaincy in winning bigger event, but was a flawed great, very poor test batsmen n captain n that's why the reactions.

Main reasons is his stubbornness, to change despite loosing, no accountability or passion while leading tests, playing same set of 11 despite loosing, being very very defensive, blaming everyone, not taking responsibility.

But even in ODI he is past his sell by date by 3 years, n maybe as for mentions he might be 38 already so should retire with some pride then having lost all n becoming a hated Shastri.

He deserves every bit of abuse coming his way. I lost interest in LOIs so I want him to play and see him getting humiliated furthemore. The way he was crying when his IPL side got kicked out was very pleasing to see.

Dhoni is probably the greatest ODI wicketkeeper/batsman in history.

That would be gilchrist but yes 2nd rank to dhoni and he stands out even in the 2nd rank because there Is daily light between him and the rest

Most of the posters here and elsewhere on the internet don't hate (atleast not to the extent visible) superstars like Tendulkar, Dhoni, Ganguly, Dravid Kohli etc in cricket or in football or any other sport, in real life. The hate and spite in the comments is usually directed to other posters because of personal animosity rather than towards the sportsman. This leads to gloating by a fan of Player B when Player A, the "enemy" poster's idol, fails and vice-versa. This is not exclusive to ICF. Go on any major football/tennis forum and see what happens there. People need to grow a thick skin and toughen up.

No, Gilchrist is arguably the best in tests, but not in ODIs. He was a match winner on his day like Sehwag too was in ODIs but both were highly inconsistent.

But I must admit that the body language of our fast bowlers has changed massively after Dhoni left tests, Umesh bowls a lot of yorkers now which was missing when Dhoni captained him.

Agree with the top part, but absolutely disagree with the last para. 

 

Why should we ask for the retirement of a player who still averaging 50s in ODi and when our ODI batting does not even look settled?

 

If Dhoni's average was massively dropping, then I would agree to drop him, but he's been scoring runs in ODI's.

 

 

This is a Pakistani logic to drop your premier ODI batsman.

 

Yes, I am sorry but to ask a batsman to be dropped, who averages 50 and is still scoring runs is absolutely absurd. How are we different from Pakistanis if we do this? This is similar logic to theirs when they wanted to drop their only scoring guy like Misbah.

 

I know we have lot of youth talent and they need to be given chance but all those can fight for other remaining batting spots in the team. No one should be questioning Dhoni's position. 

 

We have struggled in ODI's not because of his batting, but because of poor bowling and collective failure of other guys in the batting line up who haven't been consistent like Dhoni and Kohli.

Pakistan needs a leader like Dhoni, and it is thus not surprising that Pakistanis love him. Misbah does bring a bit of Dhoni style leadership, but wasn't enough to take Pak completely put of the water,

 

 Indian cricket has evolved considerably, and we no longer need leaders like MS. We did need him when he became captain, but it's time to move on to a different type of leader.

I like maniac the poster and rohit the odi bat  but totally dislike rohit sharma the test bat. Its wierd but atleast i dont fit in that mould.
