Rate Thala's knock from today's game.

Indian game over and we can't run away before talking about Thala's knock.

 

How did you rate his knock today and how much confidence or anxiety you get from today's knock of his as we march on to our game 2.

 

I believe Thala played well against Bangla, looked little skeptical today but managed 30 odd. Ideally its good he was in p'ship with Rohit to see us off. Overall, I feel its a good sign for India, not the strike rate but him staying on the wicket and getting some runs apart from what he scored against TOYGERS.

 

If two of the top four can fire next time unlike today where only Rohit did, then Thala playing his own isn't bad. I think India is building a solid foundation.

Thala looked exactly like how a typical Thala knock is. Bit of lunging, bit of awkward defense, many dot balls

A little bit more urgency shown by him than usual... Hope the way he got out doesn't make him go back to his usual self...

His legendary knocks in the 2007 WC included 0 and 0 and few runs against Bermuda.

 

Also failed in most big games in 2011 and 2015.

Played his role well. Hit a few when needed and supported rohit well.

A typical Dhoni knock. He would have played this way even if we were chasing 400 anyways . In the context of the game it turned out alright and comes out as decent.

His keeping, on the other hand, was very sloppy.

Exactly. He is only good at steadying the ship after a collapse or chasing a low total nowadays

This was a match and situation made for msd.

 

Chasing smaller total and when he came in, run rate below 6. He played to the situation.

His problem starts when we have to chase above 320 and he is coming when rr is already above 6. This is happening since 2014.

Sign of things to come..if Rohit had got out, match would have gone to the 50th over, that was always Dhoni's plan. He will bat exactly like this irrespective of the situation. A dud team management had the opportunity to giver Kedar some match practice but for them Dhoni's getting some batting practice is the only thing that matters.
