KL rahul is the most mentally weak batsman India has produced in last two decades

Am not able to understand why there is so much confusion in assessing the ability of players . When KL scores in couple of matches he is demi-God and when fails in 2 matches he is mental midget ! .

He has been our top T20 player in different conditions for last 2 years . A mental midget or someone lacking ability cannot reach such level.

At least  assess him objectively -

Does he have all the shots to play aggressively ?

Can he play even fastest stuff and get runs , .

Can he be big  hitter vs spinners

Has he shown his ability against Top teams several times

Please answer yourself for the above and assess .

People will make runs and also fail , Form also will dip at times . If that is not happening why no one is able to score at more than 55 Average in their career. ?

If i were Shastri , i would even test him at #4 or #5 in next 3 matches if he cannot be accommodated at the top. You cannot  throw out a proven match winner of  short format as he has more capability than Iyer.

Rohit, Ishan ,Kohli, SKY, KL, Pant , Hardik  line up for next 2 matches

We can definitely compare Rahul with other top order players. However the intention of showing stats of someone who people consider a high impact player was to show that Rahul strikes at the same rate as Pandya while scoring at much higher average. Yes, thanks to him playing top of the order.  Obviously there is **** ton of discussion that can happen based on batting position.

Thanks for avoiding the explanation. Saves time for both of us.  I did not want to discuss how we can just a move a player from no.6/7 to Top3 and just assume he will keep scoring at even higher rate while improving his average 2X-3X of current average.

It is proven that if good batsmen get to play more balls, their avg and SR improves ... you can also pick the bowlers to target unlike in the death overs where you have less options, while also leveraging on field restrictions  ... Below since 2018

Above SDP has an avg of 31 with a SR of 141, that too after only playing 13-14 balls per inning. Guys who mostly bat in the top order avg 23-24 balls

I have no issues with kela rahul failing.. however i have issues with his batting attitude nd his mindset of being an accumulator im t20i...

I mean how many accumulators we can afford in our line up?

Rohit is in same mold of starting slow nd then going big.. but even this strategy hasn't bought him the level of success which he would have desired specially in IPL

Kohli is another accumulator..we can tho afford him specially in run chases.

Rahul- another accumulator being mirror copy of rohit.. can bash bowlers but prefer to show deadbat and carries a meak attitude..

Iyer- another accumulator..can bash spinners but is deplorable against quick express pace..

Now this is the problem with our t20i team... When u have ur top 4 as accumulators then more often than not this team will fail.. this template would work in odi but .. how will it suffice in t20i??

How many of u expect to get a flying start where both of our openers (rahul & rohit) plays to preserve their wicket..? That's why kishan has brought a breath of fresh air with his attacking batting at top.

It looks like that big score of 130 odd he got against RCB in the IPL has messed up his game. He wants to tuk tuk now with the hopes of staying till the end and getting such a big 100 again. I hope he just bats freely without any clutter to smack the ball around like he did when he was new. In full flow, Rahul"s batting is a treat to watch!

Kl still jmo is our best T20 bat,but his change of approach in last 12 months or so is concerning.  We can't afford another accumulator in the team, in such a case hes better off pushed down the order where he's forced to hit from the word go .

His biggest strength is that he starts timing from the very first ball, ideally has no reason to play like Virat or Rohit .

I wouldn't blame Rahul. He is going through a bad rut and the best thing that a captain can do is to give him a break, let him work out the chinks and come back later.

But what does Captain Bravado actually do? He drops a talented batsman who never got to bat in his debut match and instead continues playing KL. The writing was on the wall here and only the blind could not read it.
