All the so called experts, the white ball red ball BSeers and blah blah blah people. Rohit is a top bat for India and deserves to play. I laugh at the so called clueless experts here. Age etc. The list is endless.

no hate .... ROhit is simply not good enough for all conditions. A batsman   of 32 y & 5m  who has already played 47 inns    with such mediocre  record in SENA is not adequate for a place in the team simple.

Tests are not only played in SENA and a bradmansque record at home cannot be ignored for home selections either. I don’t care if batsman X averages zero in SENA. If he averages 90 in India, he makes the Indian team while playing in India 100% of the time.

Fair enough.

 

Problem is ... such a batsman will keep playing in SENA too till he fails miserably ... while a high average SENA batsman who has a lowish average in India, like Rahane, will keep playing in India.

 

Horses for courses policy is only for bowlers.

How will you prepare openers for tough away tours then? You have to accept that overseas tests are the big deal and that should be our priority.

 

Also, Why not give Rahul the opportunity to bulge his record by playing in easier Indian conditions? The guy had 7 50+ scores in his last 10-11 innings in India. Why is this luxury of treating Indian and Overseas performance differently not given to him?

but a vast majority of the ordinary fans  cherish and give lot more importance to   abroad series wins especially in SENA, I assume. From that POV,   "a bradmansque record at home'  batsman" would always enable the team to beat  opponents  by  'bradmansque' margins at home while he will  ensure that the team always losses by  'negligible margins' abroad especially in SENA. This is because this batsman can't even score those 'negligible margin runs'  for the team cause abroad. I always prefer those batsmen who  helps to beat a SENA opponent by 50 runs at home and  by mere 5 runs  abroad

rather than a batsman who helps to beat  the same opponent by 150 runs at home &  makes lose  by  50 runs abroad. That means win lose record would be  10-0  in first case and 5-5 in 2nd case. I consider Rohit as  2nd category batsman

If i remeber he made runs against WI in debut series went to SA failed

Then he made runs Against lanka at home last time, went to Sa failed 

Played well against NZ also 

 

Same happened with dhawan when he smashes lanka , went to SA n ENG failed

 

The question has been overseas n tough pitches.....make such statement when he makes runs overseas we ll happily apologize .

So first they say Rohit is useless for red ball cricket- scores runs then they say him opening in tests is a joke- scores a 100, then they say he can only bash weak teams like WI,he will be a sitting duck against Philander and Rabada then he goes ahead and scores a knock filled with 5 6's and treats them like trundlers, then they say oh he is a flat track bully and can only score at home.

 

Let us see the test teams of the world- so runs won't count against SL,Bang,AFG,Ire,WI home or away

 

We don't play Pak anyways

 

so that leaves us with SENA

 

Runs against SENA countries don't count at home

 

So that leaves us with SENA countries away.

 

Played on 2 tests vs Eng in Eng

 

Played only 4 tests SA vs SA and in one of the tests was the top scorer and only player to reach double digit

 

Played only 2 tests vs Newzealand where he scored that magnificent 60+ on a green mamba vs Boult and Southee

 

Did well in Aus in the limited chances he got

 

Every time he has been chopped and changed and never got time to settle down.

 

His records in 2 formats of the game make him a bonafide ATG. feats that have never been heard of.

 

Yet people have the guts to speak about Rohit in a condescending tone.

 

This superstar not making it in tests would have been the greatest tragedies and injustices of the game .

 

Glad today he proves everyone wrong. Please stop being petty. Either you guys are being petty or feeling irritated and antsy with today being a dry day due to Gandhi Jayanti. There is no other excuse

an opener who averages a mere  25.36 after playing 24 inns  in SENA  is not good enough  for the role ... simple...

Can you tell me what the totals were in those games. few of those games were in SA were both teams were getting bowled out for <200 on minefields and on Nz were there were some green mambas and in England were Moeen Ali was running through our batting and everyone failed

aren't they the same pitches were Pujara,Rahane & Kohli have been  playing in general??  Agree, except from Kohli  other 2  too haven't been up to the mark in various ways, but they have done better than Rohit I assume.Even Mayank ,Pant & Vihari despite being rookies  have done better than Rohit as of now
