sarcastic Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 S Dhawan thinks he is back in the hunt for opening slot in T20Is. @Ankit_sharma03, @sarchasm what are your view about his statement?
Khota Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 But as a backup to Rohit and Rahul. This series Rahul was ahead of him. He definitely can play one down if Iyer or someone else is having rough time. No need to discard him and show hate. nevada and Kothili 1 1

ShoonyaSifar Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 First T20 50 in 14 months where he gets to bat a fixed slot, has a secured place in the team while youngsters like Iyer and Dube keep getting shafted by Captain Fool raki05, beetle, Ankit_sharma03 and 1 other 4
Real McCoy Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Dhawan is not ideal for T20Is. If you watched right from the start, he was trying to score but couldn't lay bat to ball. Full marks on intent though. He was trying to come down the wicket, reverse sweep everything. He got an early life that too from SL. It was masked by Rahul's innings where he was timing deliveries to the fence who took the pressure off of him. He needs to be credited with the way he accelerated but we cannot have two slow coaches opening in t20s. Rohit can be kept for the so called x factor. But we need the other guy to start from the word go. That happens to be KLR at the time being. Its a shame because Dhawan is a gun 50 over batsmen. raki05, Cricwala, Ankit_sharma03 and 2 others 5
Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 (edited) In this 50 we shudnt forget 1.He played well but he had 1-2 lifelines in both games, good opposition wont give it. Infact in both games he got 1-2 boundaries by poor fielding 2. Again he started slow which is why he n rohit dont complement in t20 as both start slow. 3. He scored a 50 after 14 innings that to against lanka . Last we saw same in test cricket when lanka saved his test career to screw us in SA n ENG. But he has saved his place infact he is surely going to wc in squad . 1. Shaw has shot himself in foot n they made sure samson didnt get fair chances. 2. He scored runs in last innings 3. He is leftie n exp 4. Other guys like gill bat similar to rohit n kohli slow starters we need someone to go bang bang. Gill has also not been given a chance He goes in 15 but hopefully they dont play him in Xi and screw rahul case which i can fully expect them as they have done in test cricket. If they want rahul to play freely they shud tell him his place his secure. Till WI series rahul was play aerial shots in PP but this time he hardly did...he does have a fear of his place Edited January 11, 2020 by Ankit_sharma03 Real McCoy 1
jf1gp_1 Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 When Dhoni who hasnt played cricket for past 7 months seems to be in plan then why wont Dhawan be in plan. raki05 1

Sad state that a guy who scored 50 after 14 games feel secure and someone like rahul who has one of the best t20 record around the world knows he is 2-3 failure away from being dropped. Pant is also under same fear that a dhoni who hasnt played for 7 months can come n score in IPL and his place is gone Suhaan and Mosher 2

Cricwala Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Dhawan sounding really desperate to talk himself up. Even in mid-innings interview yesterday, he was asked about our end overs flourish but started yapping about how well we did in opening. He knows Rohit is untouchable, hence he's playing down KL's contrib and putting pressure on Kohli. Maybe he senses with dada around, getting his mate in is not so simple for Kohli anymore. raki05 Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 What a shameful man....giggling in joy as if it was his debut inning. Already played 2 t20 wc and several t20 matches and hardly have anything to show, one utterly desperate inning against a mediocre hapless balling and bigging himself up like a world cup winner. Khota Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Folks on this forum are losing it. If Dhawan is so bad how come he was the second highest run scorer with a better S/R than Rahul in the last IPL.

putrevus Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Rishbah Pant had 162 SR which more than any top three in IPL.Make him the opener for few matches and see what happens.Rohit should be no3/no4 along with Kohli depending on the situation. You are instantly lengthening the batting lineup with that move, you can play five bowlers plus Pandya with that move. saik 1
