vishalvirsingh
The way he played starc , cummins and Hazel and also lyon, he is definitely one who will be in future India ODI/T20/Test Team. This Innings will be a game changer for his career. HIs batting Talent will be recognized now. He is a pace all rounder , only genuine pace all rounder after Hardik. I think Virat will keep an eye for him now. Washie will be the spinning all rounder next to Jaddu. I see tough days ahead for yuzi , Kuldeep . good days ahead of washie, Varun chakrawarthy and shadam Nadeem etc... guy like Umesh will not be picked unless he is not at the top of his art and may be Shardul picked ahead of him. Also bad days ahead of strokeless wonders like Pujara who can turn Matches into draw as India will be targeting to win matches more... speedheat 1 Link to comment

kubrickian
Good to have competition. Also, think India's ODI/T20 team is too one dimensional, meaning all the batsmen cant bowl. If one of the bowlers have an off day, dont have any other options to fall back on. Compare this to earlier sides which had Sehwag, Yuvi, Raina, Ganguly etc who could bowl. This is where all rounders will make the difference. But feel like Shardul has to prove a lot more to be reckoned as an all rounder, think Washington Sundar has a better chance as he has already done decently in T20s as a bowler. Link to comment

Swag
Mate, really? Hats off to what Shardul did yesterday but Hardik is a rare kind of player, based on one performance we cannot really be bringing up such comparisions. I'm glad that India have options though. express bowling, Ankit_sharma03, vishalvirsingh and 3 others 6 Link to comment

I think odi is our weakest format due to selection issue and we are still a top 2 side there too ROFL. That's the funny part. Link to comment

putrevus
Pandya should not be anywhere near the test team unless he plays one full season of domestic cricket and proves he can bat in test cricket.Shardul should be in the mix when Indian travels. He will not play in Indian conditions. Straight Drive
Pandya wasn't dropped from squad because Thakur had to be picked. Moreover Thakur is primarily a bowler who has contributed with few worthy innings in a short international career in shorter and longer formats. Pandya should be playing Ranji and on basis of performances in Ranji he should either be selected or kept out of squad. Rightarmfast 1 Link to comment
R!TTER
Looks like a real alternative to BK for England, if he can keep similar stats when batting in tough conditions he's be my pick over the ever frail & anemic BK. raki05 1 Link to comment

Tibarn
He is more similar to BK, a bowling allrounder option with a primary skill of bowling. Pandya is more of a batting allrounder, IMO. Link to comment
Rightarmfast
As a utility player, Thakur has more value than Pandya because his batting was solid, against the best. Pandya doesnt instill the same confidence. The difference between the 2 is marginal. But Thakur is a hard working lad who will come and do his job without making a fuss. Very unlike Pandya. Lone Wolf
I seriously doubt Pandya will play any tests from here on.. Either he works on his physical conditioning to add more Muscle mass or his Back issues will keep troubling him. I think he knows that well & will try to prolong his career by being a LOI specialist & think we need him back there. Overall Pandya is a Superior talent but him being injury prone will prove to be his biggest enemy for his Test dreams. Edited January 18, 2021 by Lone Wolf Link to comment
kohli
Thakur can play as 3rd seamer in odi & t20. Link to comment
KiraReturns23
Great effort by Lord Thakur in this test but let's not kid ourself, Thakur averages 16 with the bat in first class. He's a good utility player to have as a back but he's no competition to Pandya. Pandya's ceiling is way higher, he could be India's flintoff express bowling 1 Link to comment

Pandya's ceiling is way higher, he could be India's flintoff Dear he is a genuine talent with the bat. earlier his batting skills could be less but as of today He is a better bowler than Hardik and a little bit less of a batsman than Hardik. He is way better than a Dubey or Vijay or other "wanna be Pace all rounders". His bowling was probably even better than Siraj in this Test, he got 7 and siraj got 6 wickets. He does give away some runs but once he plays fr India regularly , he will improve. best past is he bowls from 130 to 143K range with a lot of balls between 135 to 140K , he balls fuller length and can get little swing. once ishant shammi Umesh Boom are available , Siraj saini and shardul wil compete for back up bowler slot, i dont see Nattu competing in Tests. At his pace , even snicks wont carry to fielders. Link to comment
