Wriddhiman Saha: "Wicketkeeping is a specialist position and should remain so. I will make the most of every opportunity I get when we face England in Chennai."

Perfectly reasonable comments. Although I sense many might feel anxious reading this, or get triggered.

Not as reasonable. Why exactly is he making comments on Pant's batting or keeping? And these comments seem very well thought out. It does seem clear that he has been told to be ready to be the keeper in the England series. Exactly what some of us have been predicting

Although Saha is a contracted cricketer, it doesn't mean he doesn't have a mind of his own, views of his own, or the freedom to market himself. If team management errs and chooses Saha for England tests, it's on them, not Saha.

Team mates commenting on their 'competitors' is not a very healthy thing. Imagine Pant talking bout Saha's batting and why modern keepers have to score runs as well. There will be immediate calls for him to be ousted from the team

I am not saying he isn’t free to speak his mind. I am just saying this creates an unnecessary situation in the dressing room. He should avoid questions on selections & just talk about what he brings to the table rather than veiled comparison with pant.

But at the end of the day it’s on the team  to decide, I hope the decide on Pant. He will drop a few chances, but he will not improve unless he gets a few games. He has clearly shown that he is the future with the knocks against Australia, one should be blind not to see it.

They will not be able to drop Pant whatsover.. Might decide to pick him as a specialist batsman though.

Still can't believe India persists with a 36 year old when you have talents like Pant and Kishan waiting to takeover

Welcome Captain Saab Kohli

The King and his band of " Meri " men will all be back on the field during the first test,  the silver streaks in their hair glistening in the Chennai sun ... as they think about what the future holds for their kids.

While most of the young inexperienced vagabonds, who dared to defeat the mighty in a far-away land, will get their chances to score centuries and take fifers too, albeit in video games which they will be playing in the comfort of the dressing room.

And the Court Jester cum baby sitter maybe banished for cracking one joke too many against the mighty king !!

Forget Pant, If Kohli goes into usual egoistic mode, he will drop even Gill and Siraj. Remember how he treated Karun Nair, or before that Pant and Kuldeep, or Gill, Siraj and a host of other youngsters, even Pujara and Rahane for that matter. They are all pawns in his bigger game and he will move them the way he wants. It's all about his whims. Grooming players or being treated the same way how his captains and seniors treated him, does not matter at all.

Pant & gill will play but droping siraj is not big deal.
