Real McCoy Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Are you sure buddy. Will he "always" be the captain even if he is 40 Forever Indian and raki05 2
goose Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 as supporters of Indian cricket we should welcome Rahane saying this. Kohli is captain, for now, let's move on King6, BacktoCricaddict and kruiser 1 2
nevada Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 What else can he say? He has to declare loyalty or risk getting dropped by the trigger happy Kohli. beetle, sorak, Black Zero and 3 others 3 3
putrevus Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Rahane knows while he led the team very very well in Kohli's absence, it is Kohli's team which is built on his image.Shastri and Kohli are responsible for this team rising from number 7 to this position. Adamant 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 thats what every deputy says and shud say, kohli use to say same for dhoni and when kohli will not be the captain he ll have to say same for next captain AuxiliA 1

LOL India became number 1 side in 2016 with the core team of Vijay, Dhawan, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Jadeja, Ashwin, Shami, Ishant, Umesh. All picked and groomed under Dhoni-Fletcher. Saha was the only new player picked under Kohli. Going by your logic, Dhoni and Fletcher deserve all the credit. raki05, sorak, nevada and 2 others 3 2

What was the ranking when Duncan and Dhoni left? So you expect a captain who comes in to kick out players playing under under captain. All players like Sehwag, Sachin and Yuvraj were playing long before Dhoni became Indian captain so you deny Dhoni the credit for captaining 2011 world cup. What is your point. This is Kohli's team and will remain Kohli's team.Shastri is the coach he also knows whose team it is and has very clearly explained to people who have difficult time in understanding. That is your logic not mine. For me the credit for success and failure of the team both are to the captain in charge. But the funny thing with Kohli cheerleaders is they credit Kohli for the successes but failures are due to everyone else including bad weather in timbaktoo. I never discredited Rahane, Rahane deserves all the credit in world for captaining the team to the greatest series win in Indian team's history. Noone in their right mind will deny Rahane his credit. But it does not change the fact that this is Kohli's team.Do I want Rahane to be the test captain moving forward heck no .

Decide one way or the other. Was it "Kohli's team" in 36 all out, 0-2 surrender in NZ, test series losses in SA and Eng, WC 2019 debacle, ODI losses in Aus and NZ? raki05 1

Point is, are you okay with the fact that Indian strength has never been stronger than these few years, yet India's is the same old story of "dominant at home but getting whipped outside Asia" - as is always the story? bowl_out Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 This is so similar when Kohli was saying "Dhoni is my captain and I'm his deputy"

Yeah, when Kohli was captaining to one series loss after another, the argument was that he is playing well, the rest of the batsman are no good, where is the talent to replace the non performers, etc. But Rahane has achieved a series win against all odds with the same crew - in fact, depleted, injury ravaged, inexperienced crew. Everyone was stepping up big time and playing the role of rescuer left and right. There is no way these guys would have done the same with Kohli around. vijaydude, raki05 and sorak 3
