LOL India became number 1 side in 2016 with the core team of Vijay, Dhawan, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Jadeja, Ashwin, Shami, Ishant, Umesh. All picked and groomed under Dhoni-Fletcher. Saha was the only new player picked under Kohli. Going by your logic, Dhoni and Fletcher deserve all the credit.

What was the ranking when Duncan and Dhoni left? So you expect a captain  who comes in to kick out players playing under under captain.All players like Sehwag, Sachin and Yuvraj were playing long before Dhoni became Indian captain so you deny Dhoni the credit for captaining 2011 world cup. What is your point.

 

This is Kohli's team and will remain Kohli's team.Shastri is the coach he also knows whose team it is and has very clearly explained to people who have difficult time in understanding.

That is your logic not mine. 

 

For me the credit for success and failure of the team both are to the captain in charge. But the funny thing with Kohli cheerleaders is they credit Kohli  for the successes but failures are due to everyone else including bad weather in timbaktoo.

I never discredited Rahane, Rahane deserves all the credit in world for captaining the team to the greatest  series win in Indian team's history. Noone in their right mind will deny Rahane his credit.

But it does not change the fact that this is Kohli's team.Do I want Rahane to be the test captain moving forward heck no .

but when same kohli looses countless of overseas series and icc tournaments you will always blames batsmens,slectors,coaches other than kohli... how can someone get credit for a tournament where he din't even play. each tournament is different from other heck even match is different from other , otherwise how come kohli loose in most humiliating function with better resources during same tournament, and just for reminder i am not blaming kohli the batter anywhere.

Yeah, when Kohli was captaining to one series loss after another, the argument was that he is playing well, the rest of the batsman are no good, where is the talent to replace the non performers, etc. But Rahane has achieved a series win against all odds with the same crew - in fact, depleted, injury ravaged, inexperienced  crew. Everyone was stepping up big time and playing the role of rescuer left and right. There is no way these guys would have done the same with Kohli around.
