Rahane to be dropped or out due to injury soon?

Whenever Kohli has given statement supporting a player, he drops them a short while later. Once he said he didn't have a fraction of Gill's talent at similar age and proceeded to bench him for well over a year.Now he says Rahane is a key player along with Pujara.

Arrogance is dripping in all of his responses. I don't feel good. We are going to lose next 3 match if he remains arrogant about his choices. Look how he says there are no regrets about selecting Nadeem over Kuldeep. He is not bothered about this loss. Perhaps he thinks he can turn the tables like Rahane did at MCG :D

He has already turned the tables - turned the team from winners to losers in just 1 game.

VK just doesn't seem to be "with it." 

 

Listen to him closely when he talks about Nadeem's selection (3:52 mark).  Not once, but multiple times, he says that without Nadeem the attack is one dimensional where the ball is turning away from the bat.  Doesn't he mean the opposite?  I can understand him tripping up once, but twice/three times?  He seems spacey.

how can somebody avg in low 40s while playing at # 5 ( safest position, far away from new ball.. 4th/5th bowlers bowl by the time he comes in.. )

Rahane was always going to be the target number 1 for Kohli the moment he got the captaincy back. He hasn't helped his case by two poor performances in this test. Next target will be Pujara. And then Pant, Gill etc will be on his radar.

 

BTW look at the CI homepage..Kohli has indirectly blamed Rahane, Nadeem and Sundar, SG ball, WTC rules - everyone and everything but not his own incompetence as a leader

Well I wouldn't expect a captain to say that even if he has regrets. No Captain is going to say selecting a certain player was mistake when the series is still going on.

 

if we endup with Nadeem in the second test, then we have serious issues.

why wouldnt he be arrogant since no one has the guts to remove him from the captaincy. also the headline of pujara and rahane being the most important batsmen shouldn't be taken literally. Contrary to what rat talks, Rahane must be feeling the heat right now for stealing the limelight from him in Aus. He often said Pant is an exciting talent but never played him consistently. quite an insecure asshole with diplomatic talks in the press conference covering up the negativity he has spread in the dressing room

This can't be denied even though Rahane has good captaincy skills.

Makes Kohli look like Bradman at home, so he'll stay.

 

Pant on the other hand is irresponsible, Gill is not converting & Pujara is not showing enough intent. These guys can be dropped any time.
