Popular Post express bowling Posted February 25, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 25, 2021 (edited) The pink ball needs extra lacquer to improve visibility. The seam has to be more prominent and harder too, probably to counter possible dew. All this is making the balls skid faster than expected and quicker than usual. In this match 21 out of the 30 wickets to fall were off straight balls. There is unpredictable swing under lights too. In a nutshell, the ball presents a challenge by itself. India collapsed for 36 in our last match. This match has ended in less than 2 days. Our first pink ball test did not last long enough either. If the Pink Ball Test has to succeed and the matches have to become interesting then it needs flatter pitches. Ankit_sharma03 Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Agree, at the end if these test dony go till 5 days no point. Specially indian team test where everyone earns Mosher and express bowling 2
SK_IH Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Not a big fan of pink ball. Also considering the dew factor. Unnecessary addition to test cricket. nevada and Gollum 2
cowboysfan Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 flatter and more grass on the wicket but that negates our spin advantage.i feel we might not play a DN test for a long while unless its against minnows
express bowling Posted February 25, 2021 Author Posted February 25, 2021 Teams getting all out for 36 or 81 can't be a good thing for test cricket. Mosher, Real McCoy and Gollum 3

zen Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 First goal should be to create sporting pitches where batsmen, quicks and spinners can all play a role ... the type of ball (pink/red) and other conditions (dew, overhead, etc.) should be factored in later and playing 11 picked accordingly The issue with rank turners is that pitches are prepared by leaving them unprepared Laaloo 1
Jay Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 How about no pinky at all? Just stick to class red ball. Wouldn't see such low scores in red ball. Unless you are Pakistan in Australia who let Warner score a triple century somehow. nevada 1
Bigg Brother Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 There should not be even Pink ball test, All this idea was perpetuated by Cricket Australia, Pink ball isnt going to revive Test cricket magically. I'm all against Pink ball, it's just an another gimmick. Should stick with traditional red ball. nevada and Gollum 1 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 As i said these gimmicks wont help, ask everyone they ll tell u stories about India-Aus series 2020-21 and 2000 series but not much to tell in any recent pink ball games . Sports is all about competition , the idea shud be help teams build better rather all these gimmicks. Cricket is declining coz of lack of quality teams not becoz of anything. A good contest is still enough to hook ppl.
putrevus Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 (edited) I like the idea of Pink ball test .It is still in experimental stage. They need to be staged where they only count for that series but not towards any test championship points. If WTC points were not on offer for this match then India could have played this match much more freely. mishra Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Thanks @express bowling bhai. I didn’t see the thread and posted a question in match thread. That pink ball had beautiful seam and kept its shape(specially seam and colour). Batsmen looked hurried and it was so bad that they seem to play like amateur. Most of them weren’t even seeing where ball was and played blind( head position) and looked like fishing even when they were defending. IMO, Ball and Not pich which was doing way too much For Bats. express bowling 1
maniac Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 I get the appeal of D/N tests. Getting around the pink ball is tough because white ball is useless for test cricket, red ball has visibility issues. They might have to come up with something better. I am pretty sure the color itself was well researched before they came up with it. express bowling 1

ShoonyaSifar Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Prepare fair pitches. If the pink ball does tricks, so be it. But preparing a minefield where the surface doesn't remain intact even for a couple of sessions is a disgrace. Credit to Root for not going ballistic against such blatant doctoring.

Until the fine tuning is complete, Pink ball test should be like an exhibition game having no bearing on series result. It shouldn't even be counted as an official test. Why should batsmen unfairly have their averages dented by a freak ball? Edited February 26, 2021 by nevada express bowling 1

Great batting tracks with something for pacers in the beginning which deteriorated to be very helpful for both spin and pace by the end. Produced 2 great matches as well.
Vk1 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 (edited) wonder why the batsman on both sides didn't make adjustments for the skidding ball. We have seen teams treating Rashid Khan as an offspinner.. why not change the strategies? Edited February 26, 2021 by Vk1 express bowling 1
