You guys need to understand that a lot of these statements are prepared for these players and coaches - For eg.  foreign players are often asked 'can you please say some positive things about your experience playing PSL, and the fast bowling talent that it is famous for'?  Now a player or a coach who is hired by the league, what's he going to say? The difference is that the canned marketing spiel for the IPL doesn't need to get into silly piss-measuring contests with other leagues, because it already is the biggest baddest one on the block.  Of course other leagues will always try to compare themselves to the IPL.  And in Pakistan, any sort of comparison with "India" where they can claim victory, is like high grade opium injected into the veins.

 

At the end of the day, why do folks care about such obvious PR statements.  90% of what players say in interviews is nonsense, and they just want to say what they have to, and move on.  Indian fan base is so naive and immature, taking most of it at face value.

If that is the case, why does Afridi still have average bowling numbers in T20Is? Average of 25, ER of 8+

I just hope the coach is reading out all these statements in the team meetings to the players. Hurt their ego, that is one way of forcing them to forget all differences and come out much more motivated than they were innthe 1st game. My gut feel says they will come out determined to prove a point to all these critics.

Honestly i am highly impressed the way afridi & rauf bowled in that match against india. Rauf was really quick and accurate. Yes IPL has some really fast bowler but majority of it has trundlers in 125-135kph zone. If we face pakistan again i want to see how our batsman play against afridi & rauf & how much pressure they can put on both of them.

People will always look at the majority of the bowlers that play. He is right when he says most of the IPL bowlers are 130. What else will he say when we showcase trundlers like Sakariya, Sandeep, bhuvi, kaul etc.

Its another matter we don't have much trouble facing quick deliveries but its the left arm angle that brings into the right handers that create problems.

This same bowling attack was more or less taken to cleaners, esp Rauf in England just months back. They are good bowlers and they had a good day last weekend. IPL has shown us that if we pick the right set of players, we have more than enough.

 

The question is, if we will ever do the right selections.

We have to take it on the chin & move on.  Indian team has faced good amount of criticism & they would be under the pump on Sunday.  This doesn't happens often...  Only 36 all out recently comes close.

He can wax lyrical about Pak cricket and PSL all he wants, but can surely refuse to slander IPL or Indian cricket if he's made to do so.He was working there a month ago.

 

If he can't,then it can have consequences with future assignments with Indian cricket.

I agree - To be fair , you get paid millions to perform and deal with the limelight - good & bad both   -  India played utter rubbish and deserve all the criticism - Play better and then do the chest thumping for being the No. 1 side of the world
