I doubt this news. He is world no.2 test all rounder despite his indifferent bowling form. Was he even injured? I am starting to suspect every injury now.

Atleast he has played 50 plus tests, and has a good enough Career Test Average bowling and batting

 

Ravindra Jadeja has a good pedegree in Test, also deserves a bit of respect in that sense

Axar is better bowler than jadeja but need to improve his batting alot. In fielding i don't think he is anywhere close to him.

I think post this SA series India have games in India for which even Jayant Yadav will work. In tests you have to bowl 20-25 overs and long spells. T20 is 4 overs and ODI 10.

The man averages 40+ with bat in hand in test cricket over last few years - home and away.  And is a frontline bowler.  

 

Nobody has a "like for like" for him available.
