Confirmed News : Both Rohit and Virat are going to play the 2027 World Cup

I consider this as confirmed news given that these 2 are bigger than cricket in India

The confidence with which Rat and Vadapav are abusing and mocking detractors....they have made up their mind that like 2023, ek aur baar world cup harakar hi jayenge 2027 mein.

2027 planning will happen this year...either they are not in the mix or they are...they are saying they are...matter ends there.

Understandable, They want to close out their careers with the ultimate trophy... 50 over world Cup. More so in Rohit's case as it's the only trophy he has not won.

No1 wants to declare the retirements these days as it decreases their stocks in IPL/leagues and not many leagues like to have retired players in their teams.

It will be same case as dhoni where they will not declare their retirements but wont play for Ind. There is possibility of kolhi playing next odi wc, but for rohit it will be hard and he will only comeback if something like what happened to t20 wc prepration had that pandya the captain got injured and they created a brand ro-ko making them a combo deal if one comes into the team other has to come by default.

is bhuvi retired ?? is rahne retired ??

Let form dictate but Jaiswal should be given a go so that he can be swapped in.

Cause

Jaiswal

Gill

Iyer

Pant

KL

Axar

Hardik

NKR

Varun/Kuldeep

Bumrah

Rana/Arshdeep

can win the WC very easily if given a couple of years development time.

Good to see whingers put in place.Let form dictate, they earned the right to play.

Rohit will be 40, Kohli will be 38....I know emotions are high but 2.5 years is quite a long time.

It's the right time to introduce Gill Jaiswal as your openers.. maybe even introduce Abhishek as well.

India's ODI Schedule 2025

FTP 2026

January 2026 - vs New Zealand - 3 ODIs, 5 T20Is (Home)

February-March 2026 - T20 World Cup (India/Sri Lanka)

June 2026 - vs Afghanistan - 1 Test, 3 ODIs (Home)

July 2026 - vs England - 3 ODIs, 5 T20Is (Away)

August 2026 - vs Sri Lanka - 2 Tests (WTC 2025-27) (Away)

Fair to say that Jaiswal will get ample opportunities before 2027 WC.

Don't think Rohit will survive this year.

If he is picked for England test series.  Rest assured this will be the last few months he will have.

He may get a farewell series though.  My guess would be 3 ODIs vs SA in November.

Kohli may sneak it to 2027 somehow but that also depends on his test returns.

Has not kohli been always good against pace? His best detractors do not question his fitness/mental preparation. If he works on the basics of his "spin game", he should be good for 2027 ODI world cup like how sachin played his 2011 world cup.

Rohit has not won a ODI world cup, so he may lobby/push himself but for his fitness. I think, he will play in ENG?
