Kohli is having similar run since 2019. I can't stand the Rat but hopefully he has a 2007-2011 WC resurgence soon. Not happening, Kohli doesn't have the ability/talent/skillset SRT had. Straight Drive Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 Sachin started test career at very young age. Yet he was the best batsman for most part of his career. He was below par only for last couple of years. Kohli started late by few years on comparison. His performance is below par evewn at age of about 32. Forget about double hundreds, even a 100 or a 50 looks unlikely from him now. Vijy and raki05 2

Sachin ROFL, Virat is not good enough to tie shoe laces of Laxman the test batsmen. I cannot imagine Loli facing McGrath, Lee & Gillespie. Loli as a test batsmen had one great tour of Aus, one great tour of England (he was dropped multiple times). Even in his supposed peak, never really came up with match winning performances in test matches. Mark Waugh a relatively lower tier test batsmen has more memorable innings than self styled great test batsman Loli raki05, nevada, Vijy and 1 other 4

kubrickian Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 Kohli is a good batsman who is going through a poor patch. He had a very good run for quite a few years. If he works on his flaws, he can become good again. He is probably a bit overhyped but that's not his fault. Its unfair to compare him to Sachin, who is a once in a lifetime batsman. maniac, kohli, raki05 and 1 other 1 3

Thats the only way he can make a comeback amd maybe go down as a great. Else his decline will continue with his insecurity GoldenSun, sage and raki05 3

I mean against touring England side/sl side he should have scored like 700 runs in 3 tests. The concentration lapses of Sachin was quiet inexplicable. From the very first ball he would find the middle of the bat then all of a sudden he will play a daft shot. Dude he averaged almost 59 in 90s and miles ahead of others. How on earth did he under achieve.

rollingstoned Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 He never did, it seemed that way only because of a 2 year purple patch that he had but it is in times like this that Sachin's longevity should count in his favor and not against him. Playing devil's advocate Kohli can still turn it around, Root couldn't buy a run a few years ago and kept finding ways to get out. It can happen even to the best of batsmen at times. Not even considering that he takes good care of himself and isn't someone heavily dependent on hand eye coordination that he will go off a cliff suddenly. Vijy 1

With that thought process, difficult to see how exactly can he get himself in the right mental frame to fight his way back to form. Vijy 1

Kohli is running out of time, 33 in 2 months. Root's worst year he averaged 37 in 2019 at age of 28. Kohli averaged 19 in 2020, and 24 in 2021 at the age of 33. Root has hit 5 centuries in last 11 tests, Kohli 0. Most batsmen hit their career peek in late 20s or early 30s, Root is going through that phase now and expect him to score at least 10 centuries in next 2 years. Hand eye coordination deteriorates a lot after 33, it happened to Ponting, Sehwag and many more. Kohli is done. vvvslaxman and Vijy 1 1
