Some times the best fielder drop a lot more catches because they go for tough chances that others won’t even attempt. The reason why MSD is a safe keeper :p:.

I don’t think I have seen Jadeja put down too many dollies. I have seen even Pollard another gun fielder drop simple catches as well.

The other names make sense

Dropped in the 80s twice and KLR makes them pay with 50 more runs in the last few overs. And young Bishnoi took two catches under the same lights including that of Kohli. AB never drops catches and he is also affected by lights.

There are few things I dont compromise are. Fielding, fitness and current form. If you score 90 in  SA a decade back than that should not be the criteria for selection for next ten years.

Pity 6 pack abs don't help you catch better. Anyway his PR team has this covered, VK will make it to best fielder's list of any ex-player.

Somehow fielding is no longer considered as a skill. It's synonymous to fitness now.

Fitter player - automatically better fielder.

So much talk about batting and bowling techniques analysis. What happened to fielding techniques. Staying low, not getting up early in slips, keeping the balance, not moving too right or left early, proper diving, keeping an eye on the ball? Proper practice, analysis of mistakes, improvements in fielding techniques of individua players?

But no, 6 packs abs is enough.

t20 type fast and frenetic games actually erode orthodox catching skills imo. being a safe pair of hands in the slip cordon for eg. needs you to field there a lot and in the same position game in game out because even from 1st to 2nd slip the kind of edges that you get are different and the amount of time you need to concentrate is something you have to train your mind for. Gavaskar used to always say that indian fielders in general are not as good at catching with the fingers pointing up, i am not sure if that has something to do with the way they are coached.
