Well not sure about this.

No matter how loosely we talk to our friends, stopped passing remarks about anything which may involve wife or family once people started crossing age of 30 and got married. Maybe common somewhere else, and a person may not get offended, even then it's common sense to avoid unnecessary comment.

Point is, having a loose conversation in person is different to having a loose conversation when holding a mic! Someone who has travelled the world must know such social etiquettes, one would assume.

Yeah commentary is professional work, not just sitting at home and passing remark activity.

They are trained to say Dream XI IPL instead of IPL.

He said that due to lockdown he hasn’t had enough practice and was referring to how much Kohli believes that practice makes a man perfect. Then a segway to discussion of a viral video promoted by their PR dept. These use people use media for any of their needs and complain about it too.

"He [Kohli] wants to… he knows the more he practises the better he will become. Now there was a lockdown [in India because of the Covid-19 pandemic], and he has practised only against Anushka's bowling. That is not going to help him a lot."

I have read it now half a dozen times and don't see a darned thing wrong with what gavaskar said. Move on.

Whether he said Gendon ki or not, it's not cool to bring up a player's wife's name like that. Criticize o rridicule the ayer as much as you want but don't drag his family into a scene they don't even belong.

Oh, He used the words bowling and said "Anushka" in one sentence and commenting on how little practice they had. Immediately, after that he gets out and some snowflake has gone around deducing. Where did he drag the family into the scene? Oh, He said the wife's name in public! Let's all outrage! Maar do hathoda..
