Field placings by Kohli in Adelaide was also good. Rahane has batted well today.

No regret. Those criticism brought the best of him. If people won't have criticized and scrutinized him, he might not have delivered a performance of his calibre showin great character and mental fortitude.

Not many, Brat's captaincy has been **** at least since the end of our last Oz tour & yet not many blame him for the collective failure when he's done well with the bat! A good captain brings out the best in his team, a great one allows them to exceed (most) expectations. Brat is a poor captain & the results show, especially when we bat - he must go - as simple as that

Everyone and their dog knew Rahane’s place was on the line this match. Credit to him, he’s leading from the front. Doesn’t make the criticism any irrelevant.

I think criticism was fair (apart from name calling) but he has lead from the front and played beautifully in this test match. Hope he becomes more consistent

I always rated him as he scored most of his good knocks away from home. But he has earned my respect here. I thought this series was make or break for him.

 

Good knock but a long long way to go. \If we somehow win this match, I think he will prove many posters wrong here with their batting/ captaincy bashing of Rahane....

Not really...As a batsman he has done what he was supposed to be doing more consistently and was getting rightly called out for it. These guys are playing for a team fighting for being the best team in the world right now...lack of performance should amount to dropping much less criticism.

LMAO..Why so?? We are acting like Pakistani on PP, putting someone on pedestal and opening admiration threads after threads for players. Well played Jinx but that doesnt mean people should start regretting or rethinking about his criticism. He is 67 tests old player, hasn't played like a test veteran all these years despite being vice captain. Hope he continues this form and this innings boosts his confidence.

Nope, he was criticized because he deserved that. Played with mediocre returns for over 3 years, struggled in India esp against spin, no horses for courses policy for batsmen (not his fault though), blocked place of a youngster who could have gained valuable experience (again TM's fault), long (undeserved) run in white ball formats, faltu ROI across 3 formats, long list. 

 

This match he has played/captained well and is being praised by each one of us, rightly so. Most of us here are objective, not haters or part of PR machinery of certain players....we often vent out because we are passionate fans.

He deserved all the criticism.He has batted like tailender for last three plus years.It was extremely chancy knock.Hopefully he builds on it rather than making one inning affair per series which has been story of his career.

Judgement still out. Two more tests to go.  But I'd say one more player who was Kohli'ed is finding his feet again.
