Popular Post maniac
I don’t see any one in that dressing room full of boy next doors deliver that sports movie type of speech to motivate and turn these middle class nerds into tigers. Only one man comes to mind, there is only one alpha out there I think Shastri shut his haters for now. Ravishastri4life Norman, Kothili, Bigg Brother and 9 others 2 4 5 1 Link to comment

Popular Post nevada
Shastri is a one trick pony with just bombastic talk. He must have pep talked a tad too much to get the boys way too pumped up and collapse for 36 in Adelaide. Lord, Clarke, sorak and 7 others 1 1 6 2 Link to comment

So you want to give blame for 36 all out but you are not willing to give him credit for the turn around. Cricspin, Kothili, OpeningBatsman and 1 other 1 2 1 Link to comment

putrevus
Shastri has done exceptional job with the talent he has been given by the system. He is the guy made most of his talents. He has not been afraid to fail , by chosing guy Dhawan over Rahul in SA. Did he make some selection mistakes yes, he did ,he also made this team competitive in all conditions.Bigger question needs to be asked is Indian system generating good enough batsmen.Where are the batsmen in last decade. Kohli/Sharma came in before 2010 and Gill now. zubinpepsi, kirkutfan and Jimmy Cliff 2 1 Link to comment

Even Rahul, Mayank and Vihari showed promise, can't write-off their careers yet. Just like how this tour is busting the Kohli built this attack and made india competitive myth, I hope shastri myth is also busted later this year if his contract isn't renewed. Link to comment

What nonsense are you talking? This is Kohli's team there is no myth behind it. You answered your own question when did Rahane, Puajara emerge.Nobody is writing anybody careers off .Since when Pandya is great talent in tests. Pant is WK. Link to comment
Yoda-esque
I actually like Shastri..He sounds bombastic and probably is bombastic and arrogant, but he does have a great cricketing head on his shoulders. He maximized his capabilities and rose above his talent. Link to comment

DeepSpace
I have changed my opinion on Bewda ... err ... Shastri. True he is not a disciplinarian, being a drunkard himself who frequently passes out by the gutter (how do you set an example, this way?) . But he has a cricketing brain, and his inputs and motivation and just backing the players have helped. Look at it this way, few years back he said that this team is going to be the greatest Indian team in history and we all laughed. Also, he is not telling you how much struggle it has been to get Kohli to listen to him. I think he has helped make Kohli a better captain who backs his players more. I am not saying Kohli is the best as he is still an asshole. But Shastri has helped in grounding him a bit better. Still it is Kohli's team, but I do not think the teammates fear him like they did before. What is the common thread between all the success? Shastri as coach. This team has achieved no other Indian team has remotely come close to. And team of the yesteryears had better individual talents, especially in the batting dept and even some in the bowling dept like Zaheer, Kumble and Bhajji. Just having good players is not enough. You need good leadership, direction, self belief and willing to fight. Just when we mercilessly criticize after failures, we have to man up and give credit when it is due. That is what a true circket fan would. maniac, GoldenSun and raki05 3 Link to comment
