Straight Drive
Bias should not be allowed. Neither the cricket team needs a religious preacher in the camp. Good riddance raki05 1 Link to comment
urbestfriend
I trust wasim jaffer more than these administrators who wants to play their favorite players and when called out, complain. If wasim is so religious, why no one had a problem when he was playing for vidharba. He was also a mentor there. f20143g70, sandeep and Rightarmfast 1 1 1 Link to comment
Straight Drive
Most of the cricketers are young aged. Parents will be concerned if there is a moulvi who brainwashes their kids in coaching camps. Cricket team has no space for a coach who promotes a moulvi. raki05, coffee_rules, beetle and 1 other 4 Link to comment
Vickydev
While I dont believe he or his selections were communal, but allowing a maulvi or any person in a religious capacity into a dressing room is a strict no no for me. If he allowed it, he is equally to blame as the person who asked for it. sorak, Cricketics, raki05 and 1 other 4 Link to comment
adi B
What a Shame ,all his so called witty tweets but behind the doors he was doing this! Dont want such folks anywhere near cricket PunterLog, raki05, Suhaan and 1 other 4 Link to comment
PunterLog
So, we have our own Maulvi in our ranks. I thought Ahmed Shehzad was an absolute whacko for doing what he did but Jaffer has taken it to another level. How long before he brings out the victim card? Indian media will brush this off under the carpet in the name of secularism. Modi wasn't far off when he said "You can identify rioters by their clothes". Suhaan and SrinjayDutta 1 1 Link to comment
Clarke
One can argue if "Ram bhakt hanuman ki jai" is team slogan then maulvi should also be allowed for Friday prayers. Not defending him, trying to step into other shoes. There is no correct answer to this, its all subjective. Selection however has to be purely meritocratic, and its all he said the other he said. Maybe someone can share their views on the deserving players. I reckon RKT is from UK. Hojoborolo 1 Link to comment

mishra
I don’t think there is anyone more qualified than Jaffer to make calls there. Its sad state of affairs if best person has to resign because of office politics. Its acts of opportunist like these that worries Hindus . Rightarmfast and Indwin 2 Link to comment

Yeah, bringing in Maulvis into cricket grounds is entirely normal. And you couldn't resist yourself from making the "cow" jibes. I bet you think all the commentors are bigots but you are a beacon of secular values. Edited February 11, 2021 by PunterLog raki05, rollingstoned and Laaloo 3 Link to comment

What is wrong if a Maulavi visits the ground. The wrong bit is accusing Jaffar unnecessarily. If aacusation is on basis of caste or region, imo , more often, accusing party is actually lieing and misusing. Best player isn’t best captain. Absolutely if players or parents of players want a Maulavi during practice days. Not as if he is stopping a match because Maulavi says its prayer time for skipper. What is wrong in that Link to comment

Lone Wolf
I think Maulavi thing is not too much of an issue... There is no restriction on that. But selection bias is the main issue. I do hope Jaffer didn't had any hand in that. Even Irfan Pathan was alleged of biasing & corruption in JKCA but that's what happens in every nook & corner of J&K. Link to comment

One is your home, you can do what you want. The other is your place of work, try taking a religious preacher to preach in you place of work & see if your bosses are fine with it. beetle, Suhaan, raki05 and 2 others 1 4 Link to comment
