Ahead of India’s tour to Australia, the BCCI has sent an advance party to the country to prep the hosts about the series.

As per reports in Mumbai Mirror, the team had asked for the inclusion of a clause in the Memorandum of Understanding between BCCI and Cricket Australia regarding the removal of beef from the menu.

This request comes after the team Twitter handle posted the lunch menu during the England tour, a list which had braised beef pasta.

“A well-earned lunch for #TeamIndia,” the tweet mentioned during the Lord’s Test. This tweet received a lot of flak back home, owing to which the cricket board has decided to play it safe down under.

The aforementioned inspection team has also asked Cricket Australia to arrange smooth travel, practice and an ‘Indianised’ dietary arrangement for the players. The team also requested to provide Kohli and boys more vegetarian items on the menu and enough supply of fruits.

“Players often complain about the blandness of food served in Australia. There are a few vegetarians in the team who really struggle at the grounds. The inspection team has also roped in an Indian restaurant in Australia to supply curries to the boys,” a source was as quoted by Mumbai Mirror.

India play three T20Is, four Tests, and three ODIs in Australia from November 21 to January 18.

BC are you going to go on a tough tour as sportsmen to eat curries?? Kuch din daal or roti nahi khaoge to mar nahi jaoge. Apart from beef there are many dishes available.. western countries are hotbeds for vegans now.

I read somewhere that on one of the previous tours, there was no vegetarian food available for players during lunch (in a test match!) and a couple of players had to go out of the stadium on their own to go get their food.  WIth Anti-corruption officials giving them company.  Then they weren't even allowed to bring the food back in to eat in the dressing room, because "outside food is not allowed".  They had to eat outside the stadium and then go back in.

Shame on Aussies for not providing proper food options.  And about damn time the BCCI did something to address it.

Im sure BCCI has that much funds to send a couple of chefs along with the team to service the demands of these princesses. Dont blame the Aussies.

When england/SA/Aus/NZ/WI come to India do we provide them with beef? do we provide them with Western food? They suck it up and eat Indian food most of the time. Why should Indians get special treatment?

Because they can.

If you can get something, then what's wrong in trying for that.

problem with vegetarian food is lack of protein. Why dont they ask for eggs and chicken.

Huh? Are you living in the 1950s. There are plenty of protein supplements and substitutes in this day and age that cut down the fat, cholesterol etc that come with eating meat

A lot of wrestlers in India that train in akhadaas are vegetarians and we produce some of the best wrestlers in the world
