Not once did he make playing XI !!! Are you kidding me? I am not on the ICF hype brigade yet but feeling so bad for the southpaw, is this the way to treat a talented youngster? This is a horrible TM group when it comes to grooming youngsters.

 

T20s ok fine, Rahul the keeper/opener might be a killer move and they tried Sanju for a couple of matches. But in ODIs Pant did very well against WI in some tricky situations, seemed to find the right tempo for the format. We had a terrible day at Wankhede against Aus and Pant did ok (but suffered concussion), since then not a single game while we invest time in a 34 year old who is never going to make it to 2023.  

 

If they had decided not to play him why not make him play against NZ-A, would have been good practice for the test series, and he could have kept himself occupied. Got some keeping practice if nothing else. 

 

22 year old kid folks, getting his confidence ripped to shreds by insecure, petty, malicious men.

If I am not wrong, even Aus cricketers have backed Pant’s talent (but not Ind’s TM) who can be played as a specialist batsman too

Mind you he was the 1st choice WK before the concussion injury. Thereafter not even getting chances in redundant games. You can only laugh as it does not make any sense

Any sensible person will see the injustice meted out to him. Even if they have reservations they should explain to him about their expectations and send him to domestic/Ind-A to rectify flaws and hone his skills. Not hold him hostage in the squad and torture him so much. Pant is like a prisoner right now, not good for an enthusiastic kid like him. This will wreck his self-confidence which is his strongest quality. 

 

Btw I think he is good enough to warrant selection in this team, much better investment than TTFs and 34 year olds with dodgy fitness record. Even had he played a couple of matches I wouldn't have made this thread, the b@stards are pretending he doesn't exist.

ODIs is fine but his exclusion in T20s is not acceptable. However even in ODIs, he had a pretty good returns against WI but Rahul as a WK gives another batting option option 

Also this Rahul at 5 BS is only to accommodate Dhawan at the top. Indian cricket under Kohli absolutely sucks.

Pant should have been released from the squad to play in the A games and get some useful match practice and improve his game. This pathetic team management is out to ruin his career by making him sit on the bench.

Why not just drop him if you don't want to pick him in xi? let him play domestic or india a matches and he will atleast learn and improve. Team management is trying to dent his confidence i guess.

if i remember  correctly they did same to Rahul in his early days.... i am not sure what's the  purpose of trying pandey , jadhav et all in middle order.

they will back him, every now knows he has 0(zero) offside game, kinda legside slogger he is. he won't succeed if bowlers start bowling offside with speed even in IPL. His keeping has been improved over last year or so.

Playing Jadhav was disaster.. Pandey hasn't done badly.. Pant and Pandey should have played 1-2 games each even if they decided to have Rahul keep wickets

They did exactly the same thing with KL , warm bench for ~2 years playing ~10-12 games in total while he was better off playing domestic cricket .
