I am more upset with this one than Dhoni's retirement. Still believe he had more to offer in Indian cricket in the middle order. The most selfless Indian cricketer ever who always played under Yuvraj's shadows and now took retirement also under the shadow of Dhoni.

I had a chance to meet him in Birmingham, top lad as well without any egos.

Very humble person and an underrated batsman.    Great fielder too.    That 2011 SF knock vs Pak was one of the best.  And will always be remembered.

Same here! Raina is still only 34. Officially at-least. It feels like he has been out of the side forever. Feeling sad about the way the last few years panned out for him.

Some wonderful memories. Had he gone in place of Yuvi at #4 in the 2014 WT20 final we would have posted 160+ and won the trophy, he was in such good form then.

Retirement is a personal choice and decision and it needs to be respected.

 

I do not have anything else to add because all good qualities of Raina and his contribution/impact  has been listed on this thread.

 

However I think Raina has 2-3 years of cricket left in him and if he worked hard enough still has a spot in at least T20Is as he is probably few batsmen in India who can score from ball 1 against quality bowling (as long as it is not a well directed short pitch).  I don’t know his health and other situation but feels rushed and seems like he has given up too soon.

Thanks for those knocks in QFs and SFs in 2011 WC, that saved India.
