asterix Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Congratulations to all Team India fans... No doubt Ashwin bosses this match in both batting and bowling. Not discounting his immense contribution. But don’t you think Rohit’s 161 runs helped India to build a huge lead on a difficult wicket? Maybe Ashwin being the local lad got the preferential treatment. sarchasm, Real McCoy, addicted4444 and 5 others 1 7
Serpico Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 yeah in the context of the match that 161 is huge. But 100+5for is a rare occurrence I don't mind ashwin getting it either in any case this is a great problem to have, to have a choice between two amazing performances sorak 1
SK_IH Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 (edited) Completely agreed. He took the game away in the first session itself and in the 2nd session made sure India reaches a score out of England's reach. I thought an all time great innings like that (very similar to Veeru's knock at Galle) deserved man of the match. Edited February 16, 2021 by SK_IH nevada, Gollum, asterix and 1 other 4
mani sha Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 I agree . Batters in bowler friendly pitch and vice versa. I think though ashwin 100 sealed the deal as it was equally good as Rohit 160
sage Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Yep, Rohit got 50% of the team's runs and what put us in the driving seat of the match when we could've easily flopped around 200 asterix 1
sage Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 India would've won easily without Ashwin's 100
R!TTER Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 So like I said in the other thread asterix 1
Nikola Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 (edited) Rohit's innings did put england out of this game. What ashwin did with bat was good for him and india but didn't have much impact towards the game. England gave up match after their first innings with bat. But again what ashwin did in this match with both bat & ball is exceptional so he deserves this as well. Edited February 16, 2021 by Nikola
urbestfriend Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 No.Ashwin is right candidate. A 5 for in the first innings is equivalent of Rohit's effort. So his century and second innings exploit pips Rohit. Clarke 1
putrevus Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 While I agree Rohit did well. Ashwin's 5fer was the reason was the reason why 329 looked huge score.Plus he scored 100 when team was 6 wickets down in second innings. So Ashwin was the right choice.
nevada Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 The match was pretty much settled by the time we finished batting in the first dig. Hitman kept batting like a dream even as the pitch was expoding in puffs of dust. The English realized they have none to match that kind of batting on this pitch and just gave up in their first innings itself. sage and asterix 1 1
jusarrived Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 I agree, I think it could have gone either way if not for his knock ..but cant ignore a 100 and 5 wickets in a low scoring match . so its not such a bad call
figo6762 Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Rohit is just paying his past dues ... it will all wash off eventually . kirkutfan 1
coffee_rules Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 I thought so too, without 161 on day1, we would be not in such commanding position. Eng had no clue to bat here , except for late hitting by MAli, they could not match his score in both innings nevada and asterix 2
Suhaan Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 There is only one MOM,if it were for 2 ,Rohit too would have got it But Ashwin was also good where in we can't ignore Rohit's huge contribution in this win
Majestic Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 MAN of the match was Ashwin. Game changer was Rohit Sharma. Man of match is always given to the guy who was the standout performer of the match from the winning side except few rare instances.
sage Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Ashwin could've got a duck in the second innings and we would have still easily won and he could've got only 2 or 3 wickets in the first innings and we would have won as well. Rohit's 160 knock sealed the game asterix and nevada 2
Stan AF Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 They call me MASTER MOTM varum FASTER Cricspin, vijaydude and nevada 3
Vk1 Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 its not an unpopular opinion. Most experts felt that Rohit deserved it more. asterix 1
adi B Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 I definitely think Rohit should have got the MOTM award ,his innings basically took the game away from England single handedly in just 2 sessions . asterix 1
