3 of our games are against Afghan,Namibia and Scotland. While sure Afghan cannot be taken lightly, them upsetting India is a 1/10 chance. We play their spinners regularly and our batting watch out for Rozilla and KongRahul to demolish their bowling. I have a feeling we will bat them out.

 

Nzl is tricky but in these conditons we should beat them.

Did you see how rattled under pressure we looked during the Pak game?

 

Even if we play out of our skins and get to semis we will choke yet again. This team doesn’t have the temperament to win tournaments. Period.

 

so next few days we might play like “cornered tigers” , it won’t last long.

Everything is based on toss so anyone can win

Apart from many other problems, I think the most glaring one is the lack of quality left arm pacers in our team.   After the departure of Zaheer & Nehra, all we got is Unadkat type trundlers. Our pace bowling attack looks one dimensional.  On top of that, our top order struggles against any half decent left arm pacers.     Pakistan hv all bases covered as they hv lot more variety in their attack. Amazing that their darter Imad Wasim always looks more lethal than our darter Jaddu.  Maybe height factor and extra strength?

This team will choke. They might bring their A game even in semis but if they reach the finals they will choke.

Why did india look so rattled and under pressure on Sunday? After two solid games in the warmups, India should have been full of confidence, I actually believe there was not much analysis done on the opposition, the typical old follow the process routine and no strategizing against Pak, kohli and the team management are not sure what the best eleven is, the old habit of picking players on reputation needs to go, Rahul looked under pressure because his place is never certain, he needs freedom at the top, pant, Surya are all playing for their positions, so is shami, bhuvi and chakravarthy, the only settled positions are Rohit, kohli and bumrah, this is a recipe for a disaster.

They gave up on him too early. He needs to be backed and told to go all out. If you identified someone, you need pit confidence in him. But knowing Kohli......

I have been perhaps among the biggest critics of Kohli the captain (and now even the batsman) on this forum since 2019 WC.

 

But here is me going out on a limb with a prediction.

 

IF (a big IF this one), we do not get knocked out this Sunday by the Kiwis, we will win this T20 WC. Reason I say so is this team has been divided in camps for sometime now which has affected the performance. But a thrashing in the opening match of a 'home' WC by your arch rivals is the final push that could get the squad United again and when we do that, there is going to be no opposition strong enough for this team

 

P.S.: I know this an anti-jinx thread but bringing in some optimism here (will happily face the trolling if this turns out to be incorrect).

Anybody else feel that we will win against NZ but lose to Afghanistan? I can envision a few lbws against Rashid with our batsmen hanging back in the crease and a couple of catches to mid-on/mid-off off of ugly hoicks.
