They have done well in crucial situations, you saw that in the 2nd Test as well with that important partnership in the 2nd innings which got us to a total that we could fight for," he added. "These are the kind of performances that we recognise as a team. What the selectors have in mind and what they decide to do, I obviously can't comment on that at this moment, sitting here." tweaker 1 Link to post

SK_IH 11,388
Bigger question should be what's the fuss about Pujara & Rahane? These two are not some great batsmen or batsmen of the ilk of Sunny/Sachin/Dravid/Laxman etc. Just good batsmen being exalted to levels which previous generation greats deservedly enjoyed. I am particularly aghast at this Rahane guy. He has been sneaking in multiple formats since 2011 & despite mediocre record has remained intact in Indian cricket, that too with vice captaincy tag. There should be no discussion about their performances or future, just summarily throw both out of Indian cricket AKane, adi B, Vk1 and 6 others 1 8 Link to post
Vijy 5,544
he seems to be saying that it's the selectors responsibility to drop them, but if they are selected in team 15, then they will be backed in the XI by TM SRT100, anish2tweet and express bowling 2 1 Link to post
ShoonyaSifar 7,862
How smartly he throws in the 50s by Pujara and Rahane to justify their continued selection. The hidden message seems to be "I also scored a 50, That's more than enough". I'll keep repeating, all three have to be thrown out of the team. raki05, Sgattick10, nevada and 4 others 1 2 4 Link to post

ravishingravi 2,329
Well what about his future. The only series we won in SENA against full strength team was without him. Is his captaincy secured ? Forever Indian, adi B, Vijy and 1 other 1 3 Link to post
diga 2,542
It only says that there is a seniority culture in the team and the juniors need to wait before they can play ahead of the seniors in the X1... thats caustic culture nitinbwj 1 Link to post

The fault is with BCCI. Dont blame Kohli, he wants to protect his career, having Rahane and Pujara fail takes any focus off him. Dont blame Rahane or Pujara either, youre asking them to walk away from millions where they have families to support. Kohli, Rahane and Pujara are all placing their best interests ahead of Country India. The BCCI needs to stop picking them in the squads. Sgattick10, tweaker, AuxiliA and 5 others 8 Link to post

In olden days the captain sat with the selectors during overseas team selection. Has that stopped now? Anyway if Kohli says he cannot criticize them when they fail then please don't extol them when they score the odd 50. SRT100 and anish2tweet 2 Link to post

Would you give up your job , because a younger guy is more productive and it’s good for the company? Pujara and Rahane are not politicians or in the armed forces, it is just a sport meant to make money off of it.
