They got outplayed. Plain and simple. Everything else is crap. The team was out of form and I can bet that most of the squad was unfit as well. Look at Bhuvi and Pandya. How did they even get picked with half-fitness?

As I said somewhere - fake enthusiasm, dumb theories, grand delusions, impractical hope, etc., often get crushed. 

 

Many of the guys asking for changes were actually rooting for Rohit-Kohli and writing against young high strike rate players. So not only old fashioned cricketers but old fashioned and non-proactive fans need to adjust their thinking to realities as well. Many will now jump onto another bandwagon. The bubble has burst (as is the case in India after much damage has been done).

We should first throwout fake ones. Fake alrounder, trundlers needs to be thrown out. Pick players who can perform against best team in icc tourney not the fake ones who does stats padding or minow bashing.

Don’t believe in moral victories. This is a lottery format. India was always a lazy starter to big tournaments, having two big games upfront affected their game. Should have had some minnow games in between to iron out team selection. Varun , Shardul, Pandya , Ishan, Sky, KL, Rohit nothing worked out.
