zen Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 (edited) I posted a a multi-skilled 11, where 10 players have the ability to both bat and ball and one WK AR, somewhere but liked the idea so will do a dedicated topic on it. Pros: If the team wants, no bowler needs to bowl for more than 2 overs A major T20 tournament can be won by big hitting lower middle order. If we have more such players at various spots, it increases the chances of more of such players having a great tournament and/or contributing in some random order, increasing tournament winning capabilities Specialist can be considered for a couple of spots if they bring in pace bowling skills and/or 360 degrees batting abilities Teams like Eng play many such players Based on these criteria, below is the such an 11: Kishan/KL/Pant/Samson (wk) V Iyer - can bowl Jaiswal - can bowl leg (but may need to improve his bowling) Sundar - can bowl off-spin in PPs too SDP (c) Jadeja Samad - needs to improve his bowling Tewatia - bowls leg spin Thakur - if bowling well Harshal D Chahar Other options Axar Dube Krunal Unadkat - threw his hat in "the bowler who could bat too" ring and so on Specialist players that can be considered include: Bumrah for pace Malik for pace Siraj for swing Natrajan for yorkers Tyagi for pace SKY for 360 degrees batting abilities Edited November 13, 2021 by zen Lord, tweaker and New guy 3

ShoonyaSifar Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Multi skilled player with a bowling average of infinity in the T20 WC and that too with a halo effect should be the global captain. Making him only the India captain will be a massive insult. Till the time this gets done, he can focus on beating some u-19 kids at NCA Bengaluru. Clarke and Khota 2
Majestic Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Most of these guys look good when they hit a few sixes in IPL or Ranji but when it comes to internationals, the standards are completely different. These same guys will struggle and look off colour. We as posters then tend to move towards next set of youngsters who show glimpse of power hitting in IPL and back them. As example, Abdul Samad looked such a good power hitter but where is he till now, he hasn't played any substantial knock yet. The recent love we are having is for Imran Malik's pace but what is the guarantee of that pace to stay for long enough? We expected KL Rahul to become next Kohli but what did he do in big matches for all the talent he had? He is perhaps inferior to Babar and Markram both as far as U-30 players are concerned. Fact is we neee to stop hyping these substandard players until they do something of worth and perform consistently like Smith, Kohli, Root, Williamson, Warner and now Babar. Vk1 and Khota 2

No one is looking for a Smith, Kohli, Root, Williamson, etc in T20 format. No one is looking for consistency from a selected players esp. are the risk of slow batting. Which is why such teams are picked as the team does not rely on one player. A group of players in a random order would perform on the day, playing positive cricket and giving the team more wins than losses, and probably fighting it out in KOs with depth. As players play more and get backing, they get more confident and better. Edited November 14, 2021 by zen
zen Posted November 14, 2021 Author Posted November 14, 2021 Time to turn the T20 11 equation around where instead of trying to slot in a couple of multi skilled players in the 11, the team should look to slot in a couple of specialists (who have to bring something unique to the 11) in a 11 full of multi skilled players!
