Uthappa doesn't bowl. 

 

Even weak bowling option still offers value in T20 cricket.  Uthappa tried to extend his career by donning 'keeping gloves, which was a good idea. But his 2nd 'peak' was already a few years ago.

 

I like Uthappa, and with just a bit more luck and timing, he could have had a bigger career for India.  But it is what it is.

His career was derailed post 2008 Asia Cup for unknown reasons. I think as a cricketer he had a higher ceiling than Raina but he didn't get enough backing.

Dube is the closest we have to Mitch Marsh at the moment. Both their styles are similar - minimal feet movement, strong leg side game, medium pace bowling sans any swing, absolutely ripped frame and stable base giving them insane power on their shots, and so on

Even Mitch Marsh would not be Mitch Marsh in Indian team. Australians specifically allotted no.3 to do this pinch hitting and asked Marsh to do so,If Marsh had not been successful then Stoinis or any other AR would have been asked to do it. They moved on from Smith at 3 unlike us. For India,no 3 is supposed to be someone who play according to condition. Marsh smashed a first ball six yesterday after an early wicket. Any  Indian no 3 would have seen off 5-7 balls after Opener had fallen cheaply.

His parents separated and he himself went through depression... unfortunate turn of events

I like Uthappa, and with just a bit more luck and timing, he could have had a bigger career for India.  But it is what it is.  

Lacked temperament, planted his front foot forward and use it to play around his front pad, all of his scoring shots were in the up, came out a improved batsman under Pravin amre's coaching stints in 2014 but again was prone to soft dismissals.

Dubey ain't ripped at all, lacks timing and mistimes 90% of his shots.
