We know how good of a player Abd is and we also know he could have easily played this WC but he chose not to for whatever reasons. Look at Steyn...even after multiple injuries still making himself available for the nation. He really took that SF loss perhaps a bit too personally & certainly much harder than fat ass Philander who got appointed via quota!

Plus there's no guarantee that he would do well. May be he will but then again it's up to the individual.

If MSD had retired couple of years ago and Carried on playing IPL would he be a sell out? AB has done more than enough, from batting wherever needed opening or keeping , to show he's not selfish. He's one of the greatest batsmen ever, even more so in tests than ODIs MCcricket, diehardpacer, philcric and 3 others 6
putrevus Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 SA abused him, he was made to keep when Boucher got injured and he did his job very well too.He was the best batsmen and yet he was made to play the role of finisher.He was filling in all holes of their team and yet they made Amla the test captain when Smith retired, that started his distrust IMO. rising Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 I think ABD retired because of quota system in South Afircan cricket and he didn't want hamper younger players progress specially with likes Kyle Abbott, Rilee Rossouw etc moving Kolpak cricket below are some of the player who have left country play for Kolpak since 2016 and you can see why South Africa is struggling its similar to What happened to Zimbabwe only thing saving likes of Miller, De kock etc from leaving is IPL contracts South Africa in Kolpak Simon Harmer Stiaan van Zyl David Wiese Daryn Smit Kyle Abbott Rilee Rossouw Marchant de Lange Heino Kuhn Morné Morkel Wayne Parnell Duanne Olivi AuxiliA and diehardpacer 2

So I wont call them being selfish.AB Devilliers left the national team at his peak just just a year before world cup when his team needed him most and choose to play for Dhaka, Lahore and Bangalore in t20 leagues.Ofcourse its his personal life and choice, no issues. He took a break for 1 year without any reasons, when Faf said something about He might not come back, He came back just to play for 6 months and retired because he ran out of gas..Should have clarified his decision when he took a break and there is nothing like retiring gracefully in this decision.He is extremely fit and playing every X, Y, Z leagues. urnotserious 1

Saf look lost and most likely get smashed by most of the sides in this edition and finish around 6th . With abdv at least there was a threat for the opposition sides and they were making the semis and staying competitive till the end . nevada 1
