Did India rejoice too much after Gabba?

Days and Days of interviews. Ashwin spilling out the details of the dressing room with Sridhar and Arun praising Ravi Sastri . Pujara on national tv, just a couple of days before the test, India
lost focus on the game.

England took the Mickey out of India!

Lol no we didn’t, if you’re an Asian team, you don’t beat a full strength Aus in Their own backyard Everyday. We freaking breached the Gabba ffs, a feat NO team had achieved in decades. All this with our second/third choice players. This was a series win for the ages. The celebrations were warranted, and as fans we were absolutely within our rights to be on cloud nine and bask in the glory of the talents we had discovered in the process. Different players had stepped up in crucial moments and newbies has grasped every opportunity they got with both hands, giving it their all. Team and fan morale was at an all time high and it was natural to expect that we would do much better at home with most of our core back. Unfortunately you-know-who came back in as captain and in a thanos-like snap turned everybody’s morale and spirits to dust.

Tell you what though, I cannot wait to see how India come back from this. Their schedule has been an absolute animal, and there’ll have been a huge emotional dump after beating Australia in the way that they did, then coming home for the first time in a while. We saw that it took England a while to get going again after winning the World Cup, so it’s no great surprise that India were a little off it here – not a lot but a little, as Paul Daniels might’ve said –and this will wake them right up

I think the above is a valid point.

A good chunk of credit must be given to Cricket Australia for preparing pitches which both batsmen and bowlers could do well on. Look at our curators - can't even make the pitch hold up for day 4, leave alone day 5. This is so frustrating - our bowling rendered toothless and our batters struggling big time at home.

4 losses for 10 years at home  is a proud record. We started 2021 with a sorry loss at home

Well Indian TM and coaches were busy ensuring that all credit should go to Kohli rather than planning for this series. They all doing TV shows, talk shows now back to reality.

They seem to have done so after gabba. The kutti stories were one too many from Ashwin. It pumped up the egos of nalayak coaches who took too many days to celebrate and give interviews. The return of kohli didnt help either with absurd team selection and drop in the body language of many players

First of all, someone please slap the curator.

I suggest the curator and Kohli should have a slap duel ss long as they last. During breaks TNCA chief and Shastri should replace them for 10 mins but continue it with equal vigour.

Did probably go OTT in celebrating if using current match as evidence.

Seem to be lacking focus and under-cooked as playing a series so soon after Aus tour.

Eng in comparison are match ready and sharp.

The premise of this thread very strange.

Team India are a professional side. I am sure the team management know how best to spend their time before a home test series.

To say that Indian team spent time rejoicing after Gabba/ giving interviews/ make youtube vids instead of doing the needful training is demeaning to the side and the management.

India lost to a better team. Had they just said 'yay' after beating Australia and directly gone to the nets, there is a very high chance this selection would have still lost this test to England.
