Saurav Ganguly and Jay Shah's disastrous reign as BCCI heads so far

Recommended Posts

Ganguly has nothing to do with Kohlis Inability Captain a side, if anything Ganguly might have a role in not extending Shastris tenure, IIRC, Ganguly was never in favour of Shastri as coach and even walked out of Shastris Coaching interview.

Kohli was a terrible ODI captain and his ego was hurt when he was shown the door in ODI format. Giving up Test captaincy haphazardly proves his impulsive decision making.

Jay Shah, less we talk about him the better, he's going to exist till His Baap exist, after that he will be thrown into oblivion and we all know it.

We really don’t know what is going behind the scenes. This might be Kohli too. To be fair to Jay shah the Ahmedabad stadium built under him looks world class. Haven’t seen a ground like that in India.

After reading the points in OP, I am beginning to think that it's time to modernize the archaic Indian Cricket Selection Committee structure and their responsibilities. Currently they are not held responsible for any failures as all the failures will be  held against Coach, Captain or Administrators when the selection head should be the one acting like a DOF in football and work with Coach/Captain to set team culture/philosophy and work with Talent scouts to pick players who are most suited for that philosophy and goals.

In the current structure we have a  Captain, who for his entire life trained to better his primary skills as a player, and is being asked to perform the roles of Analyst, talent scout, player manager and tactical expert. And we have cricket Administrators who continuously poke in team selection matters and other non related matters when their primary responsibilities should be to promote the game, improve experience of match going spectators and provide income & world class facilities to the domestic players.

I suggest a below Structure:

Administrators: Stay the F out of team selection/management matters unless it comes to selecting Selection committee head or Coach

Selection Committee Head: He should articulate his vision for the National team in different format like power hitting vs accumulators in LOI and attacking fast bowling or defensive trundlers in tests and then pick Coach and Captain based on this vision.

Selection Committee Structure: Include data Analysts who can analyze the performance stats and refer qualified players. Include Talent scouts from each zone who can further refine the above list. And finally take Coaches inputs in deciding playing squad.

Head Coach: Formulate strategies for next tour or match and then actually educating players and captain to follow them in match situations.

Captain: Should only be responsible for following agreed upon on tactics given by coaches and using his experience and street smarts to take in the heat decisions. After the game stay the F out of team management decisions and focus on improving your primary skills.

In affect we need to ask Ganguly and Jay Shah to act like Nita Ambani and Aakash Ambani and stay on the sidelines, ask Capatin to be In game manager like Rohit and let the coaches and selectors do the team building.

Ganguly is a selfish egoistic filthy political mind.

As treasonous as Shashank Manohar’s actions were that he wanted India to lose to Australia at Nagpur  - Ganguly got “injured” in protest and skipped the test  match in Nagpur. Ofcourse we lost. But his chickening out said much about his third rate character.

He is extremely selfish and a devious as a snake.

He does not belong to any professional organization …tells you a lot about BCCI.

Minus the financial resources - BCCI is far worse than effing PCB or WICB in terms of  internal workings.

The generals control PCB with a remote control ( atleast there is a semblance of discipline ) , whereas the scum of Indian politics control BCCI from behind the scenes.

People are objecting Jay Shah, what about Rajiv Shukla at some point ?

Rajiv Shukla is nothing but a Congress dalal, a political broker and servant of the Gandhi family.

Unless BCCI is not brought under professional merit based management - keep expecting  political filth to screw Indian cricket.
