express bowling Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 We all know in our minds that it is going to be Umesh. ( Policy of youngsters will be selected only if Seniors are not available ) We just discuss Saini vs Siraj to pass the time. tweaker, saik, Lone Wolf and 7 others 1 5 4
ShoonyaSifar Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Not surprising at all. This TM's so called love for youngsters is a sham. In nearly 6 years as a captain, our Captain Joker has not found any opportunities to groom a single young pacer (Bumrah was a once in a generation talent and would have broken through on his oen). Only one he found worthy enough was Shardul Thakur who broke down in his second over. sandsaims 1
MechEng Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 My advice to Umesh - forget line & length or swing/seam, just bowl as fast as you can. Norman, Vilander, Rightarmfast and 2 others 4 1
putrevus Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Nothing wrong with Umesh 's selection as of now. If Siraj wants to jump ahead let him take wickets in next match.Nobody stopped Siraj from taking wickets in the tour match and push for his selection. Why are people assuming that Siraj or Saini will magically be better than Umesh in tests. Right The much maligned test skipper Dhoni backed/groomed the following players: Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Jadeja, Ashwin, Bhuvi, Shami, Ishant, Umesh. Solid core group of players who took India to #1 and we stayed at the top for almost 4 years. What has this TM done? Rahul after that legendary performance in 2017 home Aus series was dropped in SL to bring in Dhawan. Pant, Kuldeep, Nair all showed initial promise, none of them properly groomed. No young fast bowler apart from Bumrah has been able to break through...Saini is 29 and guys like Siraj, Prasidh are yet to debut. No spinner as well, Ash-Jaddu are of similar age and may retire almost together, what happens then, who will fill the huge gap when our biggest match-winners in SC conditions call it quits? Has TM identified anyone? Jayant Yadav plays one game, Kuldeep in next test series, then Nadeem, wtf? Gill is yet to debut and Rahane was given a free pass when he was playing so badly in 2017-18 (and we dropped Nair after his 300!!!!). Mayank and Shaw may be dropped after a couple of failures and then we'll see Rohit, Gill opening lol. No planning. I think **** will hit the roof in 3 years time when Rohit, Che, Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Jaddu, Shami, Ishant, Umesh, Saha retire or are close to retirement. If Umesh stink in first test ,He will be out and others get their chance. Saini struggled in odis and IPL. But people are assuming he will do well in tests. Siraj bowls at low 120s and people are assuming that he will bowl and last 20 overs in a day.

putrevus Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 (edited) Umesh is tease for any captainHe is built like an Ox and is supreme athlete. He has very good out swinger and can bowl reasonably quick. If other two players who are competing with Umesh have some stand out qualities then we could say Umesh's selection is wrong. Edited December 9, 2020 by putrevus
Gollum Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Umesh will go at over 5 rpo and pick maybe 1-2 wickets. Will be dropped after 1st test courtesy lots of outrage and urgent need of a scapegoat. Then against Eng at home will bowl like peak Marshall/Steyn and we'll get to see all the cool compilations of LBWs, stumps flying, English batsmen getting hit. Based on his home performance he will again play in Eng 1st test next August. So utterly predictable, even for casual fans like us. Elite teams in their backyard will be so well prepared against us since they know our moves beforehand and where we are likely to blunder. This team had all the ingredients to seal a great legacy, we have underachieved to a great extent because of TM's impatience, nepotism, stupidity, lack of vision, lack of common sense. Suhaan Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 What were Aussies expecting then? We all knew this is Joke of a Kaptaan and his bevda coach's so called vision Umteenth time Umesh is going to bowl in Aus ,Joke of a Kaptaan has stomach to take on Umesh's continuous pathetic performance but he gets diarrhoea after early failures of so many youngsters Keeps on padding stats to block young batsmen and keeps on playing run leaking machines for young bowlers, this time he has an excuse of facing "rampaging" Australia

Siraj on slower domestic speed guns has bowled multiple 140+ spells in FC cricket. Even in IPL he has been consistently 138-140 with a top speed of 150 kmph. Now, even in an imaginary world if he bowls 120s, just for the fact that he's picked nearly 50+ FC wickets for India A across different tours have me and away should mean him being given an opportunity in Tests. And if starting poorly in ODIs and being average in IPL was to be a criteria, the Captain Joker would have got no international career after his first 5-6 LOIs and first 2-3 IPLs Adamant 1

If Siraj plays how many RPO will he go?Will he become Malcolm Marshall? Umesh is guarnteed to do well atleast in home conditions, is Siraj guaranteed to do anything anywhere. Changing for just sake of changing (Umesh is proven failure in Australia so we will try Siraj) is not called good selection.Siraj has done nothing to put himself ahead of Umesh, he still has chance if he plays in the second match.
