maniac Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 What’s your opinion. Looked calm and cool one ball and then a brain fart the next. That 4 was crucial in the end but so was his dismissal.
zen Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Can’t judge a player playing his first game and that too out of his IPL position (do not know if he bats regularly in lower middle order) Ideally, he should open where he is used to leveraging on the power play field and a relatively harder ball sorak and coffee_rules 2
ShoonyaSifar Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Should have opened. What's the point in Rohit and Rahul opening. Only one of them should play the remaining matches and bat in the lower order. Iyer should open with Ishan/ Ruturaj. Deserves a proper run. as an opener. Personal glory (runs for openers) as KL Rahul said should not be the focus.
Pollack Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 He is the better Iyer in first look that's for sure. sandeep and Vijy 1 1
Sgattick10 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Good. Intent was there Frustrated, nevada, maniac and 1 other 4
Lord Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Impressed with calm. Won't judge him on his dismissal I would bat him in MO only. Wish he bowled too maniac 1
New guy Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Lol was given last over. How can you judge. Hope we give him more overs to play express bowling and Adamant 2

Frustrated Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 1st ball, he smashed for 4. Tried to win India the match on the 2nd ball itself. Played unorthodox shot , got out. Happens. Overall, showed Good intent, looked calm and aggressive. Needs backing. sandeep, vishalvirsingh and nevada 3
nevada Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Despite that dismissal, he has done a more than decent job given how late he was sent in to bat. In this same innings, the well set SKY and Rohit got out to inventive shots as well. Can't fault a rookie trying to desperately win the game in the last over for failing at something.similar. 200 strike rate, gave us a leg up in that tight last over. maniac 1

cricketfan28 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 too early to say .. I am afraid the current leadership will misguide him
Suhaan Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Rohit should come just before tailenders no point of him playing and wasting PPs atleast let the guys with potential to win WC open innings Rohit in any case wont score more than 5 runs against decent attacks from now on
sandeep Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 20 minutes ago, maniac said: a brain fart the next. ridiculous. He demonstrated a clear head and correct shot selection on both deliveries. The ball was a slower one and he failed to execute it with bit more power - marginal execution error, not one of shot selection. How was that in anyway, a "brain fart"? Folks who don't understand cricket, judge by outcome, instead of dispassionately evaluating what the player actually did. Besides, 2 balls in the last over chasing, is no way to draw any sort of conclusions. Its a no-win situation for the player, and given that, he did really well. Speaks volumes about his temperament and confidence - at least at the moment. But even that positive conclusion, is based on a silly small sample-set. If you really want to have an impression, there's zero evidence to support anything but positive ones from what he did at the crease. But then again, the acumen levels are quite well-known, so carry on. Vijy 1
rangeelaraja Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Whatever it takes to keep the smuggler with an aura out of the team. Cannot stand him anymore. Frustrated, Sunil_narine024 and Forever Indian 2 1
Popular Post neel roy Posted November 17, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2021 Till He hit that 4 india was struggling to hit a boundary for 20 balls. The last boundary was the surya dropped catch on 15.4 over. Next was on 19.2 when he smashed it. An international team with international stars with 20 runs to get and 7 wickets in hand cant hit a boundary for 20 balls is a shame. At least Venky iyer had the power and placement to hit it on ball 1 when his esteemed team mates were struggling .. express bowling, Chakdephatte, Sgattick10 and 8 others 11
Lone Wolf Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 He hit an important boundary.. The shot he played at the end was on... At least he tried something different. A faster bowler it would have gone over the short third man. Clever thinking I would say. Always back left handers I reckon... They have clutch qualities. sandeep, nevada, ShoonyaSifar and 1 other 4
vvvslaxman Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 You can blame him for lack of awareness. He should have checked whether there was any fielder before playing that shot. Against a seamer that is tad risky no matter how slow he is.
